Attending the workshop were Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Strategy and Policy Commission Tran Luu Quang; local leaders and about 200 experts, scientists , representatives of leading agencies, organizations and enterprises of Vietnam and Cuba in the field of Biomedicine.
This is an activity to concretize and implement Resolution No. 57-NQ TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
The workshop is also a forum to directly connect management agencies, experts, scientists, and leading biomedical science and technology organizations of the two countries to propose and discuss cooperation content and mechanisms, promote technology transfer, exchange experts, and develop applied products based on inventions, patents, and technical solutions with commercialization potential of Cuban scientists such as cancer treatment, stroke, diabetes, public health care, and high-tech agriculture .
In addition, this is also an opportunity for Lam Dong to become a Center for Biomedical Innovation in the South and the whole country. At the same time, it is a meaningful activity towards the 65th anniversary of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).
Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Mr. Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam - Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee said that with great advantages in climate, human resources and development space after the merger, Lam Dong has the advantage of making a breakthrough in developing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; developing green economy, circular economy right in the domestic consumption market and realizing the ability to connect and export scientific and technological products to the world, especially advanced biomedical technology products.
Therefore, the Vietnam - Cuba Biomedical Technology Cooperation Workshop is an important forum, directly connecting managers, scientists, experts and leading biomedical science and technology entrepreneurs of Cuba and Vietnam in association with the development orientation, practical needs and exploitation of the potential of Lam Dong province in Health and Biotechnology; sharing experiences and connecting cooperation.
Speaking at the Workshop, Mr. Tran Luu Quang said that the Workshop was an opportunity for the parties to thoroughly discuss the potential for cooperation between the two countries, the mechanisms and necessary conditions to establish and operate a Vietnam - Cuba Biomedical Technology Cooperation Center located in Lam Dong with the goal of becoming a model, built on the foundation of the "Strategic Quad"; operating under the mechanism of "The State creates, serves, and supports the private economy to develop rapidly and sustainably", operating on "Three pillars": (1) Research and Development (R&D), (2) Production - Commercialization, and (3) Research and piloting breakthrough policies.
Also within the framework of this Workshop, the Green Economy Institute and Labiofam Group (Cuba) signed a comprehensive cooperation framework contract on joint research, development, production and trade of products and research projects on agricultural biotechnology and natural medicine to serve people's health care and sustainable agricultural development.
Among them are famous Cuban products such as cancer support products made from blue scorpion venom, biological pesticides, microbial fertilizers, natural cosmetics, etc.
The Green Economy Institute also signed a memorandum of understanding on comprehensive cooperation with the CIGB Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BioCubafarma Company - Ministry of Health) on cooperation in research, development, production and trade of agricultural biotechnology products and research projects; notably vaccines for animals, livestock, poultry, aquatic products, biological food preservatives, etc.
