DNVN - Speaking at the international aviation industry conference on December 17, Mr. Stephan Castet - CEO of Advanced Business Events (ABE) said that Vietnam has many advantages to develop the aviation industry. That is, there are many large companies and international partners.

Speaking at the workshop, a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that digital transformation is being strongly implemented throughout the Vietnamese civil aviation industry with the application of shared digital platforms. Vietnam Airlines has built its digital culture and aims to become a digital airline by 2025.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts that severe supply chain issues will continue to impact airline operations through 2025; increasing costs and limiting growth. That is, the average age of the global fleet has increased to a record 14.8 years, up significantly from the average of 13.6 years in the period 1990-2024.

Aircraft deliveries have fallen sharply from a peak of 1,813 in 2018. Estimated deliveries in 2024 are 1,254, down 30% from the previous forecast. In 2025, deliveries are expected to increase to 1,802, well below the previous expectation of 2,293, with a further downward adjustment in 2025 considered quite feasible.

Hanoi Aviation Forum 2024 discusses challenges and solutions for developing Vietnam's aviation industry.

Meanwhile, the backlog (total unfilled orders) for new aircraft has reached a record high of 17,000 aircraft. At the current delivery rate, it would take 14 years to complete, double the average backlog of six years from 2013 to 2019. However, the waiting time is expected to shorten as the pace of deliveries increases.

Ensuring aviation cybersecurity is the biggest challenge that the world's aviation industry will face in the future and is clearly demonstrated in the process of digital transformation of civil aviation activities. Therefore, the use of shared digital platforms will lead to Vietnam having to synchronize its equipment systems and integrate many shared databases.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is well aware of these challenges and has proactively deployed and directed the implementation of a number of tasks. Specifically, it is issuing a Plan to disseminate, consolidate and raise awareness of digital transformation associated with sustainable development of the Vietnamese civil aviation industry in the period 2024 - 2030.

Advise the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam to integrate aviation cybersecurity content into the Vietnam National Civil Aviation Security Program.

Emphasizing that the volatile world geopolitical conditions have had a strong impact on the aviation sector, however, Mr. Stephan Castet - CEO of Advanced Business Events (ABE) Company said that Vietnam has many advantages to develop the aviation industry.

"Vietnam has strong aviation companies and good relations with all countries in the world. This is an asset for you to develop in the aviation industry. Advanced Business Events will continue to support Vietnam in identifying opportunities, customers and suppliers in this field," said Mr. Stephan Castet.

At the workshop, speakers introduced the market and the potential for the development of Vietnam's aviation industry to businesses in the world's high-end sustainable production and consumption network of the aviation industry and Vietnamese businesses. Disseminate and introduce products, models, equipment, technology, production capacity, human resource training, technical infrastructure, logistics, etc. of Hanoi city and the whole country in readiness to participate in the global high-end aviation industry supply chain.
