Vietnam-India promote digital economic and high-tech links

The Vietnam-India Innovation and Digital Transformation Forum 2025 is expected to be an important first step in expanding cooperation in the field of innovation and digital transformation between the two countries.

Continuing to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo , on the afternoon of August 20, the Trade Office of the Embassy of Vietnam in India organized online the "Vietnam-India Innovation and Digital Transformation Forum 2025."

The event attracted the participation of officials, associations and about 80 businesses and start-ups from both countries in many technology fields, demonstrating the determination to promote innovation cooperation in the context of global digital transformation.

According to a VNA reporter in New Delhi, in his opening speech, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, Commercial Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in India, emphasized that the forum's goal is to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas: innovation, startups, digital transformation and business process restructuring.

Vietnam and India are now strategic partners in the digital economy , with extensive cooperation in many sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, high-tech agriculture, healthcare, renewable energy and education.

He emphasized that this workshop is a valuable opportunity for the two countries to share their visions, promote resonance and open up new directions for bilateral cooperation.

Mr. Dao Duy Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), affirmed that Vietnam considers science, technology and innovation as key driving forces for restructuring the economy and improving national competitiveness.

In the context of green development and digitalization, Vietnamese enterprises want to learn from India’s experience, technological solutions and modern management. According to him, the forum is a starting point for long-term cooperation, opening up opportunities to realize specific programs from 2025.

Vietnam also called on businesses from both countries to increase exchanges at major events, including the Bangalore Tech Summit 2025 - taking place next November in Bangalore (India's Silicon Valley) - one of the most prestigious technology and innovation forums in Asia.

Regarding connecting the startup ecosystem, Mr. Le Toan Thang, Deputy Director in charge of the Vietnam National Startup Support Center (NSSC), said that Vietnam has increased cooperation with leading technology institutes and schools in India, creating a premise for a common startup ecosystem.

NSSC aims to build an innovation ecosystem focusing on digital transformation, green trade and open innovation by 2028, thereby promoting sustainable cooperation.

Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Director of the International Cooperation Department, Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association (VINASA), affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always considers information technology as a pillar, demonstrated through Resolutions 57-NQ/TW, 68-NQ/TW and the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, vision 2030, focusing on three pillars: Digital Government, Digital Economy and Digital Society.

He emphasized that the technology investment environment in Vietnam is increasingly open and called on Indian businesses to increase cooperation, while committing that VINASA is ready to accompany global technology businesses.

On behalf of India, Mr. Sudhanshu Mittal, Director of Technical Solutions, National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nascom), shared the success in applying AI in healthcare, helping to increase accuracy in diagnosis and support treatment.

This success opens up opportunities for cooperation with Vietnam in high-tech healthcare, especially the application of AI in cancer treatment. Mr. Mittal also expressed his desire for deeper cooperation in the fields of manufacturing and healthcare.

As a way to connect and expand cooperation opportunities, Ms. Anjali Gupta Nair, Head of International Relations, Bangalore Tech Summit Organizing Committee, introduced the 2025 technology conference, focusing on major trends such as innovation, AI, IoT and digital transformation.

She emphasized that Vietnam, with its strong policies on digital technology, will have many opportunities to approach international partners, expand cooperation and receive technology transfer. The organizing committee of Bangalore Tech Summit 2025 has invited Vietnam to participate as a “Focus Country.”

Mr. Bui Trung Thuong affirmed that the Vietnamese side will coordinate to prepare carefully, wishing to arrange an exhibition space to introduce the startup ecosystem, typical technology and potential for bilateral cooperation.

With the participation of many businesses, associations and start-ups from both countries, this forum is expected to become an important first step in expanding Vietnam-India cooperation in the field of innovation and digital transformation, contributing positively to the sustainable development of both countries./.
