On August 24, in Ninh Binh province, Bai Dinh pagoda coordinated with units to organize the Vu Lan Dharma Festival with the theme "Vu Lan Bao An - 80 years of independence" in 2025 to blend the compassionate spirit of Buddhism with the tradition of remembering the source of the nation.
The Dharma Assembly was attended by 5,000 monks, nuns, Buddhists, students, and tourists from all over.
At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Minh Quang, Secretary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Executive Committee of the Ninh Binh Provincial Buddhist Sangha, shared the meaning of Vu Lan festival.
The Vu Lan festival originated from the time of Buddha. He taught Venerable Maudgalyayana - a great filial disciple - a way to save his mother from suffering - Avici Hell. Filial piety is the repayment of the kindness of birth and upbringing of living parents, deceased parents and ancestors.
In the Thien Sinh Sutra, Buddha taught that a filial child must always remember to do five things: support his parents, take on work for his parents, maintain family traditions, preserve inherited property, and create blessings and dedicate them to his parents.
Vu Lan festival is an opportunity for every Vietnamese person to return to their loving roots, to remember the birth and upbringing of their parents, to show gratitude to their teachers, friends, compatriots and the Fatherland. This is the season of filial piety - the foundation of human morality, the light that illuminates humanity to live in love, solidarity and mutual support.

The 2025 festival season becomes even more meaningful when joining in the joy of the nation, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945-2025) - brilliant milestones affirming the bravery, spirit and aspiration for independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people.
At the same time, recently, Bai Dinh Pagoda was also honored by TripAdvisor - the world's leading prestigious travel platform - with the prestigious award: Travellers' Choice Award - an outstanding destination with a special "green tick".
Participating in the Dharma Assembly, delegates, monks, nuns, Buddhists, and tourists were able to participate in the program and the rose pinning ceremony, bringing each person back to the source of love - where each child's heart beats with filial piety.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented gifts to representatives of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and homeless elderly people in Tay Hoa Lu ward, Ninh Binh province./.
