This is the second time the program has been carried out in Ca Mau, with profound humanitarian significance. The successful surgeries not only help children avoid vision problems, but also help them become more confident and no longer feel self-conscious when going to school.

"Children like my grandchildren can have surgery right here in the locality, without having to travel far, I feel very happy", Master - Doctor Vo Thi Bao Chau, Deputy Head of the Department of Refractive Surgery - Ophthalmology, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, shared.

Ms. Pham Thi Cam (Hamlet 4, Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district), the mother of a child who received surgery this time, emotionally shared: "My child's eyes have been misaligned since he was little. I went to Ho Chi Minh City twice for examination but did not have enough money for surgery. Thanks to the program, my child received free surgery right in the locality, without having to travel far. I am very happy."

Another parent, Ms. Tran Tuyet Ven (Tran Van Thoi town, Tran Van Thoi district) said with joy and gratitude: "My child has been cross-eyed since he was little, the family planned to wait until he grew up to take him for treatment. Luckily this time, doctors from Ho Chi Minh City came down to operate on him. He will be more confident in life in the future."

For the program to be effective, the screening, consultation and surgery were carefully implemented, with the coordination of ophthalmology experts from Ho Chi Minh City and the local medical team. With the dedication of the medical team, the support of families and schools, the innocent eyes were given back their confident gaze.

Dr. Ngo Thanh Tan, Deputy Director of the Provincial Eye and Dermatology Hospital, said: "We learned from last year's experience. This year, we will train district doctors and carefully screen them before transferring surgeries to the province. This helps save time, reduce pressure on higher levels, and improve the professional capacity of grassroots health care. Each strabismus surgery costs from 8-10 million VND. If children go to higher levels, they may not be able to have surgery immediately because there are many patients. The program is truly meaningful, helping children have the opportunity to improve their appearance and no longer feel self-conscious or inferior."
