Love the job and want to serve the people

In the collective of journalists of Ca Mau Newspaper and Radio - Television Station (PT-TH), there are a number of officials who are Khmer ethnic people. Each person has a separate job position, but they all share a love for the profession, an effort to complete the assigned tasks well, contributing with the collective to carry out the common political tasks of the unit; at the same time, they want to contribute their voice to the homeland and to the development of their ethnic community.

Mr. Danh Pham Anh Tuan, Head of the Broadcasting Team, Arts - Entertainment - Sports Department: "Keeping the passion for the profession alive"

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day , Mr. Danh Pham Anh Tuan could not hide his emotions when looking back on his journey of more than 22 years as a news MC. “This is a special position for those working in visual journalism, an important bridge between information and the public. Every program I participate in is a time to try to improve myself to respond to the trust of the audience,” he sincerely shared.

As a son of the Khmer ethnic group, his affinity for visual journalism was nurtured since he was a student at Minh Hai Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities. “I always wanted to tell stories of my ethnic people, about their lives, festivals, work, and even the hardships that are happening. That is what motivated me to commit and keep the passion for the profession alive until today,” he confided.

Love for the job, professionalism and unique "quality" have helped Mr. Danh Pham Anh Tuan stay in the profession for more than 22 years.

For him, what keeps an MC for a long time is love for the job, professionalism and personal style. “Each MC must create their own “quality” for the audience to remember. For me, being an ethnic minority is also an advantage, because I understand my community and can inspire young Khmer people who are dreaming of pursuing this career,” he confided.

In the context of the consolidation of newspapers and radio stations in the province, and the upcoming merger of the province, he confided: “What I hope for is that the journalism team, especially those working in visual journalism, will have a professional and creative working environment, and be invested in developing their capacity. For journalists who are ethnic minorities like me, we need more support to not only do our jobs well but also contribute to preserving and spreading our ethnic cultural identity to the public.”

Coming from the Khmer ethnic group, understanding the customs, habits and thoughts of his fellow countrymen, Mr. Lam Duol feels proud to contribute to the information and propaganda work to help his fellow countrymen understand and comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local regulations; at the same time, helping the local government promptly adjust, supplement and effectively implement ethnic work.

According to Mr. Lam Duol, because there are still many elderly Khmer people whose access to the common written language is still limited, maintaining and developing a bilingual Vietnamese-Khmer newspaper is extremely necessary. This special press publication not only contributes to timely information on the Party and State's policies and guidelines, but also preserves and promotes the national cultural identity.

He believes that the press is always an effective bridge between the Party's will and the people's heart, contributing to promoting local development, helping people feel that they are cared for and listened to. He hopes that bilingual newspapers will receive more and more investment, especially in the digital age. "People in remote areas may not use social networks much, but their children and grandchildren do. That will be an important bridge so that people are not left behind in the flow of information," he said.

He especially hopes that there will be more young Khmer people who are passionate about journalism, choosing this path because they love the job and the language of their people. Doing journalism in the ethnic sector, in addition to professional skills, also requires heart and affection, to understand, to love, to write in a way that people who read it find it close, easy to understand, and trustworthy.

“Passion, love of culture and social responsibility are the main factors that shape my thoughts and feelings. I feel proud to contribute to the development and solidarity of my ethnic community through journalism,” Lam Duol confided.

For Danh Soc Kha, working as a journalist in Khmer is not just a job, but also a destiny and a debt to the community. He said that he is lucky to be able to speak his mother tongue every day on the radio, to be able to convey information to the Khmer people in their own language, it is a pride that is difficult to express in words.

For Mr. Danh Soc Kha, being a journalist is a destiny, a debt to the community.

He shared that the press, especially Khmer language programs, play a very important role in preserving cultural identity, spreading the good customs, traditions, and traditional festivals of the nation. Through each news bulletin, each story, each radio program, people have access to official information, better understand the policies of the Party, the laws of the State, and new knowledge to improve people's knowledge and develop the family economy .

“There are many joys in this profession, but there are also many difficulties. The Khmer language has its own characteristics, so it is not enough to just translate correctly, but it also has to be “smooth”, appropriate to the cultural context, and express the true spirit of the Khmer people,” Kha shared.

Although it is hard, every time he hears people calling or texting to give feedback, encouragement, or simply saying: "The program speaks to my story so well!", he finds this job extremely valuable.

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Mr. Danh Soc Kha hopes that the team of ethnic minority journalists will become more and more professional, applying more technology to create modern journalism while still preserving the national spirit. He hopes that, in the process of digital transformation and consolidation of press agencies, press programs and products serving the Khmer people will still be preserved and spread, not only to bring information to the people faster, but also to continue to contribute to building the great national unity bloc.
