Hoa Phat hands over the first batch of containers to Saigon Newport Corporation

Hoa Phat has just handed over the first batch of containers to Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP), opening the cooperation relationship between two large enterprises in the fields of industry, ports and logistics.

The event took place on the morning of June 25, 2025 at Hoa Phat Container Factory in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, with the participation of senior leaders of both sides. Colonel Phung Ngoc Minh, Deputy General Director of Saigon New Port Corporation and representatives of affiliated units were present at the ceremony. On Hoa Phat's side, there were Ms. Chu Thi Thanh Huong and Mr. Bui Ngoc Thuyen, Deputy Director of the Company.

This signing and handover marks the beginning of the cooperation relationship between Hoa Phat and Tan Cang Saigon. This is also the first time Hoa Phat has supplied containers to a leading enterprise in the field of port exploitation and logistics services.

The products supplied to Tan Cang Saigon Corporation are designed by Hoa Phat to optimize the load capacity, suitable for domestic exploitation conditions and are being chosen by many customers. A representative of Tan Cang Saigon said: “Cooperating with Hoa Phat helps us have more options from domestic manufacturers, in line with the orientation of improving equipment quality and increasing initiative in exploitation activities. We believe that this will be the premise for the two sides to develop sustainable cooperation in the future.”

Saigon Newport Corporation is the Army's main unit in the maritime economy , and is also a leading enterprise in port exploitation and logistics services in Vietnam. The container shipment provided to Saigon New Port Corporation was designed by Hoa Phat to optimize the load capacity, suitable for domestic exploitation conditions and is being chosen by many customers.

On Hoa Phat’s side, Ms. Chu Thi Thanh Huong commented: “The cooperation with Saigon Newport Corporation is an important milestone in Hoa Phat’s journey to develop the domestic container market. We will continue to improve product quality and perfect the production process to better meet technical standards and practical requirements from partners.”

The containers delivered in this batch are completely newly manufactured at Hoa Phat Container Factory, meeting all international technical standards. Hoa Phat is currently able to take the initiative in most of its input materials thanks to the production of hot-rolled steel coil at the Hoa Phat Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex. The target of localizing 90 to 95% of raw materials in 2025 will help Hoa Phat stabilize production and improve its competitiveness in the market.

Hoa Phat's container factory is currently operating phase one with a capacity of 200,000 TEUs per year, aiming for a scale of 500,000 TEUs after completing the next investment phases. With current capacity, Hoa Phat is the largest container manufacturer in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

The cooperation between Hoa Phat and Saigon Newport Corporation is considered by both sides to be in line with the orientation of increasing the initiative in the domestic logistics chain with domestic resources. The two sides are continuing to discuss to expand the scale of cooperation in the coming time, based on the actual needs and long-term exploitation potential of the maritime transport industry.
