Before registering for Miss Vietnam 2024 and entering the Top 25, Thanh Thao only knew a life revolving around studying, participating in art and quiet charity projects, a simple but meaningful life.
As a good student for many years, possessing IELTS 7.5, fluent in French since the age of 6, Thanh Thao was admitted directly to a series of top universities such as Foreign Trade University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. But she chose the Diplomatic Academy to pursue her dream of understanding more deeply about society, culture and politics , which, according to Thao, will become the "key" to open the door to connect with the world. Not only is Thao good at studying, she also has a special passion for music: her ability to play the piano brought her the Gold Cup at the Asia-Pacific Arts Festival in 2019. For her, art is a "second language" that helps people become more emotional, delicate and good listeners.
In Thao, people see a typical Gen Z girl: dynamic, ambitious, not only interested in academic achievements but also spending time cultivating spiritual values, enriching the soul. The piano performances and charity projects that she participated in since high school gradually formed in her a greater desire to contribute and spread kindness to society.
At first, Thanh Thao never thought she would enter a beauty contest. Miss Vietnam, to her, was just a distant, sparkling image in newspapers and on television. But then she realized: if she wanted to spread good things, if she wanted to help more people, she had to first become a person with a voice, a person that society listened to. "I used to think that just studying well and working hard was enough. But then I understood that sometimes I need a certain position and title to be able to reach more people, inspire more people and help more people" - Thao confided. For her, Miss Vietnam is not only a playground for beauty but also a place to practice courage, learn and grow. The contest became a turning point, where she overcame her own fears, dared to break out, dared to try her hand in a completely new field.
Coming to Miss Vietnam 2024, the youngest girl in the Top 25 brought with her the confusion and nervousness of someone stepping into the spotlight for the first time. The skill lessons, the companion projects, the hard training hours, the times standing in front of the camera... were all "first times" for Thao. But it was also during that journey that she found a new version of herself: more confident, more determined and more eager to conquer. "Knowledge is an invaluable asset for self-development and meaningful contributions to society" - Thao shared in a skills presentation at the contest, making many people admire her for the way she linked academic knowledge with practical values. Each passing day, each activity in the contest was a maturity class that Thao had never experienced before, a journey that opened not only with the spotlight, but also with lessons that penetrated deep into her heart.
Currently, in addition to preparing for the national finale in Hue this coming June, Thanh Thao is also implementing the community project “Light of the Highlands, helping children in the highlands go to school”. She also actively participates in environmental activities, accompanying Miss Vietnam contestants in the Green Saigon project to spread the spirit of green living and protecting the planet.
For Thao, the title of Miss is not the destination, but only the premise to start a long journey: building community projects, connecting many hearts with the same ideals, spreading the spirit of living beautifully and responsibly. She clearly understands that in order to bring about positive change, sometimes she needs to become an icon not to be admired, but to become a bridge, to inspire, to urge those around her to take action.
The contest is just the opening door, Thanh Thao's real journey begins with the dream she is cherishing: turning knowledge, art and compassion into spreading power to change the community.
