Arrested car thief who ran away and hit a pedestrian in Hanoi

On November 21, Soc Son District Police, Hanoi City coordinated with professional units to investigate a car theft case that occurred in Mai Dinh Commune.

Initial information, on the morning of November 20, Ma Vu D. (born 2004, from Bac Kan ) traveled from Thai Nguyen to the area near Noi Bai airport, Soc Son district.

When approaching a public parking lot, D. saw a 4-seater car parked on the side of the road, so he broke the window and jumped into the cabin. Hearing people shouting, he observed that the car key was still in the ignition, so he started the engine and drove away.

D. The driver caused an accident on the road and fled.

A witness said that D. drove a 4-seater car towards Vo Nguyen Giap Street towards Hanoi's inner city. While fleeing, D. hit a motorbike driven by Mr. NVQ, injuring the victim.

After hitting the motorbike, the car crashed into a tree on the side of the road and stopped. D. then continued to run into a house in Thai Phu village, Mai Dinh commune. There, he attacked the homeowner, Mr. HVC (born in 1955).

Immediately after Ma Vu D. committed the crime, local people and authorities surrounded and detained the subject, then handed him over to the police.

According to witnesses, at the time of discovery, D. was acting abnormally and had taken off all his clothes. Through a quick check, authorities suspected that D. had used drugs beforehand.
