From small actions

Public culture demonstrates each person's understanding and sense of responsibility towards the community. In today's increasingly open communication space, each person's behavioral culture needs to be raised to beautify the environment where they study, work and live. A cultural behavioral action does not necessarily have to be a great or grand deed, sometimes just a few small actions such as helping the elderly, children or assisting the disabled to cross the street.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Thien, a long-distance freight driver, shared: “During my trips, I have often seen good deeds from people around me, such as helping to carry a few packages across the street, giving way to people in urgent need… Sometimes I also receive support from people when my vehicle has problems during the trip, at times like that I feel very warm and grateful.”

Behavior plays an important role in shaping the personality of each person, especially for young people. Therefore, in recent times, the issue of building and developing culture, including behavioral culture in public places, has been highly valued by all levels, sectors and localities. At the same time, promoting propaganda and implementation through campaigns, movements, education in schools, families and society aims to build people's sense of responsibility towards the community through behaviors that are in line with the nation's fine cultural traditions and the development trend of society.

Educating about cultural behavior is a long-term process, in which the role of the family is very important, especially teaching young children during the personality formation stage. Ms. Nguyen Kim Chi, a resident of Long Xuyen ward, shared: “I often teach my children by showing them what to do and what not to do in public places. For example, when I see a kind person helping a disabled person cross the street, I tell my child that it is a good deed and encourage him to follow suit. When I see inappropriate behavior and speech towards the elderly, I analyze it for my child to understand that it is something that should be avoided…”.

In society, besides people with civilized behavior, there are still many individuals who behave uncivilly in public places. These uncivilized behaviors are shown through jostling each other, swearing, speeding, reckless driving, littering in public places, drawing graffiti on walls, dressing indecently when entering sacred places, worshiping places..., making many people angry. Mr. Ngo Van Sai, residing in Long Xuyen ward, said: "I am very upset with the behavior of drivers participating in traffic on the road encroaching on lanes. There are many cases, when it rains, some roads are flooded, many people with poor awareness when moving through flooded areas just drive really fast, causing dirty water to splash on the clothes, faces of people around...".

Building a good lifestyle in public

Ms. Le Thi My Ngoc, a resident of Long Xuyen ward, said: “For me, standard behavior in public places and behavior between people is very important. Therefore, when I encounter a situation where a group of people are freely shouting and making noise in a restaurant, cafe or in a public place, affecting the people around them, I feel very uncomfortable. I think that in order to build a beautiful lifestyle in public places, each person needs to raise their self-awareness and promote the educational role of the family and school for children and students from a young age.”

Building a culture of behavior in public places is a necessary requirement in the current context to create a healthy cultural environment. Cultural behavior in public places is expressed through respect, care, and help between people or awareness of preserving and protecting the living environment... Therefore, to raise awareness of cultural behavior in public places, it is necessary to pay attention to building a culture of behavior for everyone, every family. Each person needs to be aware, self-aware, and have a shared responsibility with the community and society in maintaining beautiful, cultural, and civilized behavior with each other. Through campaigns and movements to encourage and spread kind and meaningful actions and deeds...

To form civilized and polite behavior, it is necessary to improve the quality of education in each family, school and society. At home, adults must be role models for children, must educate about cultural and civilized behavior to form personality. At school, students must be educated in ethics, equipped with skills and a good lifestyle.

The dissemination of traditional values, good lifestyles of the nation and lessons, stories, and typical examples also need to be propagated and popularized. Each individual needs to absorb cultural and civilized features in the context of social development to build and develop good cultural features in life. There should be strict sanctions for violations of ethical standards and social rules, creating a strong enough legal corridor to both educate and deter, helping each person raise their awareness to adjust their behavior, contributing to building cultural standards of behavior.
