Kien Giang athletes won 4 bronze medals at the national weightlifting competition

Kien Giang athlete Nguyen Thuy Vy (third from right) won 3 bronze medals at the 2025 National Youth Weightlifting Championship.

On June 9, Kien Giang Sports Training and Competition Center announced that the 2025 National Youth Weightlifting Championship will take place in Lao Cai province, organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province in coordination with the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department and the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation.

The tournament brings together more than 200 outstanding young athletes aged 15-20 from 30 provinces, cities and sectors across the country to compete in 10 men's and 10 women's weight categories to rank individual, team and overall achievements.

Kien Giang participated in the tournament with 4 female athletes; in which, athlete Nguyen Thuy Vy won 3 bronze medals (snatch, clean and jerk and total) in the 59kg weight class; athlete Thi Cuol The won a bronze medal (snatch) in the 64kg women's weight class.

Through the tournament, the organizing committee selects, nurtures and trains promising young athletes to add to the youth team, national team, etc.
