Ubisoft announces major game delay until next year

“The strong performance in Q2 and the ongoing positive momentum of the Ubisoft brands have provided solid confidence for the remainder of the year. As a result, the company can confirm non-IFRS revenue growth of approximately €400 million without a major game release. The company had originally planned to launch this major game in the final quarter of fiscal 2023,” the financial report said.

Ubisoft has now decided to launch this mysterious mega-game in the 2024/25 financial year, to maximize its value creation.

While the game Ubisoft is referring to in the report is not explicitly mentioned, it is likely to be Massive Entertainment’s upcoming open -world title, Star Wars Outlaws . Previously, without an official announcement from the company, the game was expected to release sometime in the first quarter of 2024 (corresponding to Q4 of the 2023/24 fiscal year).

Ubisoft now has several more major releases scheduled for the remainder of the fiscal year, including Assassin's Creed Nexus VR in November, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in December, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown in January 2024.
