The parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 is one of the events where people can observe Vietnam's high-tech equipment.
During the recent joint training and preliminary rehearsals, two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) researched and developed by Viettel were seen. Detailed information about the equipment was not disclosed at the event, however, according to information from Viettel, the UAVs appearing in the parade included reconnaissance UAVs (VU-R70 vertical take-off medium-altitude reconnaissance UAVs) and attack UAVs (VU-C2 tactical combat UAVs).
The VU-R70 is a lightweight, fully autonomous unmanned aircraft with integrated radar and electro-optical sensors for day and night reconnaissance. The UAV uses a combination of electric and internal combustion engines, has a maximum speed of 120 km/h and can operate continuously for 4.5 hours.
The device is used to perform reconnaissance, surveillance and data transmission missions to the command center. In addition, the VU-R70 can serve search and rescue missions, border protection, anti-smuggling, anti-border crossing, analysis and construction of map data.

The VU-C2 is a tactical combat drone used to attack targets on land. This UAV is small in weight, uses a low-noise electric motor that allows for stealthy attacks to destroy targets from a distance. The UAV automatically flies along a set trajectory and self-destructs when necessary.
The VU-C2 can reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h, but can only fly continuously for 40 minutes, shorter than the VU-R70 model used for reconnaissance missions.
With much lower manufacturing and operating costs than manned aircraft or traditional weapons systems, UAVs have become an effective choice in modern warfare, especially when cheap suicide UAVs can destroy expensive equipment such as tanks, radars or air defense systems.
In addition, UAVs are difficult to detect, easy to deploy, and can operate alone or in swarms to jam, distract, or attack. This is considered a weapon that allows weaker forces to still cause great damage to the enemy, as in many recent conflicts around the world .
