According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang, Tan Van Vuong, the city's tourism industry's increased cooperation with international OTAs is in line with the digital transformation trend and the increasingly diverse needs of global tourists. In 2024, the number of searches and bookings of services to Da Nang via OTAs increased by 30-35%, contributing to expanding the market and attracting international visitors.
Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center signed cooperation agreements with leading international OTAs.
“In the first 7 months of this year, the city welcomed 4.2 million international visitors and 6.5 million domestic visitors. During the period of August 29 - September 2 alone, Da Nang welcomed an average of 145 flights per day, an increase of 26.5% over the same period. This growth is associated with changes in travel behavior, in which OTA platforms such as Traveloka, Booking.com, Klook... have become effective channels to help Da Nang reach and attract tourists,” added Director of Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center Nguyen Thi Hong Tham.
The British magazine Time Out has voted Da Nang as one of the 8 most worth-visiting destinations in Asia in 2025. Da Nang is also in the top 10 Asian cities with the highest rate of returning visitors as voted by Agoda; and ranked 2nd in the 10 outstanding domestic destinations most searched by tourists during the September 2 holiday this year, according to statistics from Booking.com.
This achievement comes from Da Nang's tourism stimulus programs, including cooperation with OTAs. The campaign to give away 6,000 vouchers to experience accommodation and entertainment services with Traveloka alone helped traffic increase by 861%. Currently, more than 70% of international tourists book services through OTA platforms, and this number is expected to continue to increase.
However, the lack of synchronous connection with the city's event chain, many international OTAs do not have representative offices in Vietnam, making cooperation difficult. Many small and medium enterprises are not fully aware of the benefits of OTA. The problem of information transparency still exists, when there are cases where customers book services through OTA but when they arrive, they do not have them, while the OTA data shared with partners is not open data...
To effectively exploit and optimize the OTA platform for Da Nang tourism, at HorecFex Vietnam 2025, Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism with leading international OTAs such as Klook Travel Technology Limited, Trip.com Vietnam, TikTok Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd., KKDAY Vietnam Co., Ltd., Yango Ads Company...
Accordingly, the cooperation will be linked to long-term communication plans, instead of just stopping at stimulus programs or ad hoc communication. Building joint communication campaigns (co-branding) to promote Da Nang according to each tourist season. At the same time, coordinate to build a promotion schedule associated with major annual events such as the DIFF International Fireworks Festival, Enjoy Da Nang, International Marathon, etc.
In addition to accommodation, air tickets, and transportation services, we also promote new products such as green tourism, eco-tourism, culture, heritage, culinary tourism, and health care for body, mind, and spirit. These are the strengths of the city and are also a trend favored by international tourists.
