Fisherman Hoang Van Dieu, owner of fishing boat TH93388.TS, 30.8m long, 800CV, specializing in exploiting seafood in fishing grounds in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, said: “In the past, when there were no service ships to purchase seafood, supply gasoline, oil and necessities to serve fishing boats at sea, fishing boats had to go in and out continuously, so the cost of each trip to sea increased. Moreover, the exploited products were difficult to sell at high prices due to long-term preservation, not ensuring freshness. Currently, there are service ships at sea, about 4-5 days to go to fishing grounds to purchase, so the quality of exploited seafood is guaranteed, moreover, the cost of a trip to sea is also reduced, we feel secure to stay at sea longer”.
Quan Thuy grilled mackerel processing facility in Nam Vuong village specializes in supplying grilled fish products to markets inside and outside the province. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, owner of Quan Thuy grilled mackerel facility, said: "With more than 20 years of experience in the grilled fish business, I always put reputation first. Therefore, fish such as mackerel, anchovy, scad, hairtail... are purchased by me from service ships and ships that have just returned from fishing, so the goods are always guaranteed to be fresh and delicious. The fish during the preliminary processing process always ensures food hygiene and safety. Thanks to that, the facility's grilled fish products are always welcomed by many customers inside and outside the province. In particular, among the family's grilled fish products, grilled mackerel is recognized as an OCOP product.
According to Ms. Thuy, having OCOP products has created favorable conditions for the facility to sell more products. Through channels from direct sales to online sales, the facility sells over 200 kg of fish per day. In addition to bringing in hundreds of millions of VND in revenue per year, the facility also creates regular jobs for 4 workers, with income ranging from 5 to 7 million VND/person/month.
Mr. Ha Van Tung, Deputy Head of the Economic Department, Van Loc Commune People's Committee, said: The whole commune currently has 440 fishing vessels. Of which, there are 159 vessels from 12 - 15m, 160 vessels over 15m, and the rest are vessels with a length of 12m or less. To facilitate the development of the fishing profession, up to now, the commune has developed more than 200 households participating in fishing logistics services, mainly purchasing and processing seafood, providing ice and other necessities. In seafood processing alone, households in the commune consume an average of about 6,000 - 7,000 tons of raw materials/year. Thereby, contributing to both revenue for households in the profession and creating jobs and income for thousands of workers. At the same time, it contributes to promoting the development of the mining industry, bringing the commune's annual mining output to 26,000 - 27,000 tons/year.
According to Mr. Tung, in order to develop fishing logistics services and meet the offshore fishing needs of fishermen, in the coming time, in addition to planning to build a 20-hectare processing area in Truong Nam village, the locality will develop a purchasing fleet and at the same time pay attention to supporting processing households with the ability to develop into businesses...
