With nearly 90 issues, Thanh Nien newspaper has fulfilled the noble mission assigned by history, which is to propagate Marxism-Leninism among our people, actively contributing to the preparation in terms of political theory, ideology and organization for the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam to undertake the historical mission of leading the nation to "shake off the mud" and rise up against colonialists, imperialists, and feudalism in decline to liberate the country, gain independence, freedom, peace and unify the country, and build a new regime. Since then, through many ups and downs of fierce historical storms, and difficult turns of the times, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always been loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People.
Comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association and members of the delegation visited the Thanh Nien Newspaper Printing Room and artifacts marking the birth of Thanh Nien Newspaper 100 years ago. |
Revolutionary journalists are soldiers on the ideological and cultural front, steadfastly accompanying the Party and the People through the resistance wars against foreign invaders and the defense of the Fatherland as well as the construction of a socialist country. The development in both quantity and quality of the Vietnamese press is closely linked to the miraculous steps of the revolution led by the Party and Uncle Ho; the miracles and achievements of the country in the 20th century and the first decades of the 21st century.
The Fatherland and the People have been, are, and will forever be the inspiration, the subject, and the content that the press faithfully reflects. Our country's press is closely linked to those issues as a requirement and demand of history, and also the responsibility and sentiment of every true writer. There is nothing greater or more noble than the Fatherland and the People; the revolutionary press unconditionally serves the interests of the Vietnamese people in the aspiration for peace and building a happy life for all people.
Over the past century, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has truly been the propagandist and promoter of the implementation of the Party and State's guidelines, policies and laws. Journalists have the right to be proud of having actively contributed to the success of the August Revolution; the victory of the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism; followed by important achievements and accomplishments in the cause of comprehensive national renovation, promoting industrialization, modernization and now the digital economy , green economy, international integration with the spirit of Vietnam wanting to be friends with all countries in the world.
The revolutionary press has advanced with the Fatherland and the People in the cause of liberation, construction and protection of the country. In that journey, there were excellent journalists, some of whom fell in the trenches against foreign invaders and became martyrs who were deeply respected and mourned by the People. Many journalists who were wounded and sick soldiers still kept their pure hearts and sharp pens to serve the Fatherland and contribute to the People.
Every journalist and every press agency needs to take to heart Uncle Ho's words: "The duty of the press is to serve the people, to serve the revolution" and do not forget: "A newspaper that is not desired by the majority of the masses is not worthy of being a newspaper." |
Revolutionary journalism is an important part of Vietnamese culture. Through journalistic works, the core values of national culture are propagated and transmitted like a never-ending flow; new cultural values are discovered, reflected, exemplified and spread, contributing to the enrichment, convergence, clarification, and development of an advanced culture imbued with national identity, building new people for the new era. Building and fighting are carried out simultaneously in the long-term and complex process of cultural revival.
Set an example, build and develop the good, but never forget the task of criticizing and denouncing the bad to make society cleaner and better. Many negative phenomena and violations have been discovered and reported by the press. It is necessary to give great credit to the press in the fight against the wrongs and negativity that are taking place in society, especially against the evils of waste, corruption, bribery and degeneration among a number of party officials and members with power. Journalists are still the leading soldiers on the front line against the "internal invaders" which is no less arduous, complicated and dangerous.
The revolutionary press is both the voice of the people and a very important bridge between the Party and the people, the people and the Party; between the State and the people, the people and the State. Through the press, the people's rights to know, to discuss, and to inspect will have the opportunity to be implemented transparently and effectively. From there, the people will have the conditions to promote their right to mastery, and that affirms the superiority of our regime which is of the people, by the people, and for the people, as clearly defined in the Party Platform.
The press is one of the most important means for the people to exercise their right to supervision. And it is also where people exercise their right to freedom of speech. Prestigious newspapers today pay great attention to criticism, always considering it a vital element of a press publication in this era. People expect that from the revolutionary press founded and organized by Uncle Ho. In the very deep connection of globalization, the revolutionary press also contributes positively to enhancing Vietnam's position in the world, promoting the process of proactive international integration of our country.
The image of Vietnam through the press will reach friends near and far, helping them understand and love this country. More importantly, each newspaper and magazine must know how to turn that idea and spirit into vivid reality through good works with strong inspiration. The very good news today is that the press is receiving great attention from the Party, the State and the People.
How many journeys have been traveled. How much sweat, blood and tears have soaked into each page. How much joy and sadness have been experienced. Some people have matured but there are also those who have degenerated and changed. Life still flows on, the turbidity and clarity, light and darkness are common things. But, looking back, the large team of journalists still maintain their qualities as warriors holding pens. Still writing for the Fatherland and the People with love and a sacred responsibility. From generation to generation, the love of country and people is still the core of professional ethics.
Every journalist and every press agency needs to take to heart Uncle Ho's words: "The duty of the press is to serve the people, to serve the revolution" and do not forget: "A newspaper that is not desired by the majority of the masses is not worthy of being a newspaper". In the new era, the era of the country's strong development, the revolutionary press still steadfastly accompanies the Party, the Fatherland and the People with its love and noble responsibility. A pure heart and a sharp pen are forever the thoughts, the cultivation and expression of every revolutionary journalist. And, we believe that from Thanh Nien, the Vietnamese press under the leadership of the Party will forever be Thanh Xuan .
