Last week, the EU decided to impose tariffs of up to 45% on electric cars imported from China.

Speaking at a meeting with the Czech delegation in Beijing, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Qi said this was a decision that the Chinese government did not accept.

According to Mr. Ling Khich, Beijing is willing to strengthen cooperation with Prague in the fields of trade, investment and new energy, and expand the import of high-tech products and equipment from the Czech Republic.

* Also on November 3, Czech Transport Minister Martin Kupka said that his country will join Italy in calling on the EU not to impose sanctions in 2025 on companies that do not meet the requirement on the proportion of electric vehicles in the entire product range.

According to Minister Kupka, the Czech Republic sent the proposal to several EU member states two weeks ago and last week Prague agreed with Rome on a common procedure.

The Czech Republic and Italy want to prevent European carmakers from being fined from 2025 for not having enough electric vehicles in their new car sales.

However, according to Mr. Kupka, member states cannot implement this request because interest in electric cars has declined across the bloc.

"Even German Economy Minister Robert Habeck - one of the EU officials supporting the electric vehicle development policy - agreed to lift sanctions on the above companies next year," Minister Kupka emphasized.
