Here, about 170 documents and images about the history, role and transformation of Hanoi's gates through the ages will be widely displayed. The exhibition content is divided into 3 main themes: "Old gates", "Victory gates", and "Hanoi gates today".

Through historical sources, images, maps, drawings, Han Nom and French documents, the exhibition recreates the history of Hanoi's city gates; providing the most intuitive and vivid perspective on social activities around the city gates and the disappearance of most of the city gates in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The images and documents also introduce the process of taking over the capital Hanoi (October 10, 1954) and the development steps of the capital after the country's reunification until now.

In particular, the exhibition “Ancient City Gate” introduces the history of the formation of the city gates of Thang Long - Hanoi; “Victory City Gate” tells the historical story of the event when troops from the city gates marched to take over Hanoi in October 1954, especially the Victory Flag Raising Ceremony at the Flagpole Stadium on October 10, 1954.

The exhibition “Hanoi Gate Today” shows the appearance of Hanoi in the process of industrialization and modernization; it was awarded the title “City for Peace ” by UNESCO and is a member of the creative cities network.

The archival exhibition “Hanoi and its gates” will open on October 7 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site.
