At 5:50 p.m. on June 25, EC225 helicopter with registration number VN-8620 of the 18th Army Corps, piloted by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the 18th Army Corps Training Center, and the Air Rescue Team of Military Hospital 175 led by Captain, Doctor Nguyen Van Nghia, took off from Tan Son Nhat airport to Tien Nu island.

By 11pm the same day, the Air Rescue Team had reached the patient on Tien Nu Island, assessed his condition and provided emergency treatment on the spot with broad-spectrum antibiotics, placed a nasogastric tube, a urinary catheter, and an anal catheter. After the patient was stable, the Rescue Team took him by helicopter to the mainland.

Captain, Doctor Nguyen Van Nghia said, for patients with suspected abdominal infections, perforated hollow organs, and air in the abdomen, air transport has the risk of increasing the condition of air in the abdomen and affecting breathing.

Therefore, during transport, patients are always closely monitored for signs of infection, especially in the respiratory and abdominal organs. In addition, the appropriate use of antibiotics to prevent the progression of abdominal infections is also very important.

Although the flight was conducted over a long period of time, in harsh weather conditions, and had to land on Truong Sa Island to refuel, the flight crew of the 18th Army Corps and the Air Rescue Team of Military Hospital 175 transported the patient to Military Hospital 175 safely and promptly.

The patient was immediately taken to the Emergency Department and quickly performed specific tests, conducted a consultation and performed surgery. At 9:30 a.m. on June 26, the surgery was successful. Currently, the patient is out of critical condition and is being monitored after surgery./.
