On the evening of June 27, at Nguyen Hue walking street (District 1), the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held the opening ceremony of a series of events celebrating the 327th anniversary of the formation of Saigon-Cho Lon-Gia Dinh-Ho Chi Minh City (1698-2025) and the 49th anniversary of the day Saigon-Gia Dinh City was officially honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976-July 2, 2025).
The series of commemorative events took place from June 27 to July 1 with a variety of activities such as: Southern amateur music performance; water puppetry cultural and artistic area, folk games area; exhibition space for images and video clips about Ho Chi Minh City; space to display modern agricultural models and OCOP products...
The activities aim to introduce to the people and tourists the achievements in the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City, protect the peace and happiness of the people of the City, join hands with the whole country to build new rural areas; preserve cultural identity, honor the role of family in social life; the care of all levels and sectors so that people can enjoy the best material and spiritual values.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that with 327 years of formation and development, including more than 30 years of innovation, Ho Chi Minh City today is known as the largest economic , financial, commercial and service center of the country; is the locomotive of economic growth, the focal point of regional development and international integration; has a good quality of life, is civilized, modern and humane.
The series of commemorative events is an opportunity to promote and educate the tradition of construction and development of Saigon-Ho Chi Minh City; promote the tradition of dynamism and creativity to build the City into a developed, dynamic, creative City with good quality of life, civilized, modern, and affectionate.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, the series of events is also a milestone marking a strong transformation, an unprecedented turning point in the history of urban development in Vietnam, a comprehensive reconfiguration of the development space of Ho Chi Minh City, where the three largest economic - growth poles in the East including Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau converge into a super urban - financial - industrial - seaport.
In particular, Thu Duc area is established as a new international financial center and will form a smart urban chain connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Di An - Thuan An - Thu Dau Mot - Ben Cat - Phu My - Ba Ria - Vung Tau; develop an expanded economic corridor stretching from the eastern innovation hub of Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc, to industrial-service-seaport poles such as Di An, Ben Cat, Phu My, Ba Ria - Vung Tau; develop a smart port-import cluster at Cai Mep-Thi Vai-Can Gio according to the digital super port model and integrated logistics system - operated by AI; develop an eco-tourism - resort center...

After the opening ceremony, there was an art performance program "For a clean, green and environmentally friendly city" organized by the Organizing Committee of major holidays in Ho Chi Minh City in response to the Month of Action for the Environment in 2025.
The program brings together famous artists such as Vo Ha Tram, Do Tung Lam, Luu Hien Trinh, Phuong Vy, Minh Sang, Dang Quan; MTV group, Mat Troi, Mai Trang... with many attractive performances.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also awarded prizes to individuals and groups that won the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Award and commended 50 wards, communes and towns that met the criteria of "Clean, green and environmentally friendly wards, communes and towns" in Ho Chi Minh City./.
