This year's summer camp had 77 children from localities, the Provincial Social Protection Center and the School for Children with Disabilities participating, taking place over 3 days in Da Lat City (Lam Dong Province). Mr. Dang Huy Chau (head of the delegation) said that every year, the province organizes a summer camp for children in special circumstances, assigned to the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Department of Health ) to be in charge. During the summer camp, the children were trained in life skills, visited the beautiful landscapes of the country and had new experiences. This gift shows the great concern of the leaders of the department and the industry and the wish that the children will try to study better in the following school years.
During the 3-day journey, through conversations with teachers, staff in charge and friends, the children opened up more and quickly integrated into the new environment. From here, many situations were shared to sympathize. The group from Cho Moi district had the largest number (12 children), some of whom did not have phones, and were bewildered wherever they went because of the beautiful and strange scenery, and the staff had to follow closely to avoid getting lost. Teacher Truong Phu Chinh (Chau Thanh district group) was in charge of a group of 5 children, taking care of all the tasks of taking photos and updating parents, taking care of the children's meals, washing clothes, medicine, etc. The teachers also helped each other to support the disabled children who had difficulty moving around.
Children's theme tear-and-stick painting presentation
The two impressive contents of the summer camp are skill activities and campfire gala. Standing outside to observe, teachers are also happy to witness the moments when the children play and smile. Because behind them, there are children living without a father or mother, relatives falling into social evils, orphans and many other dark corners, making their childhood not complete. Perhaps finding sympathy in the situation, in this playground everyone connects, unites ideas to create toys, make children's themed collages. Putting their dreams into hastily created paintings, the children's wish is simply to study, play, live in an equal environment, no children have to go out early to earn a living...
The campfire gala night ended the journey, after laughter and singing were tears of regret. Student Luong Thi Kim Ngan, Binh Phu Secondary School (Chau Phu District) was moved: “Here, I met people I had never met before but felt closer and warmer than ever. There are many friends who are very poor, disabled but very happy, joining in the fun without any discrimination. I feel much happier than the rest of the world, because many friends have not participated in the summer camp, only know Da Lat in their dreams, even my parents have never known this place”.
In the group, Hoang Phuc (Chau Doc City) seemed the most mature, very good at joking, so he attracted the children to gather around him. "I can't find the most memorable thing in the journey, because from the start to the end, every moment was a beautiful and dear memory when I was with my friends" - Phuc expressed. The 77 children in the gala night held hands tighter, the circle became smaller when they heard a child from An Giang School for Children with Disabilities express his feelings. The boy has disabilities in his hands and feet, and has difficulty speaking, but still tries to pronounce each word so that everyone can understand how happy he is, how grateful he is to his teachers, to Uncle Chau... for leading the group to beautiful places.
“Three short days, the life skills provided to the children will be a part of the luggage to continue walking on the path of life. Every time it is organized, we are very happy. This year's summer camp in particular, in order to take place as planned, had to be prepared for exactly 3 months. There are many cases in special circumstances, everyone wants the children to participate and enjoy the fun, but consideration must be given to the most necessary cases. Hopefully, with this attention, the children will become good children and good students, trying to build a better life for themselves and their families" - Mr. Dang Huy Chau shared.
Having participated in the summer camp for many years, Mr. Tran Quoc Kiet (Bui Huu Nghia Secondary School, Long Xuyen City) said that this activity has been maintained since the time of organizing the Pink Dream Summer Camp of 5 provinces in the Mekong Delta region. Accompanying hundreds of children in the summer camp, he said that the activity is very humane. Hopefully, not only this summer camp, but children in general and children in special circumstances will always enjoyeducation in a safe environment, participate in all activities related to children's rights, and live happily with their families, parents, relatives, teachers and friends.
