Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City ( KH&CN) Le Thanh Minh said that the city is promoting the shift to a knowledge-based economic model, prioritizing areas such as AI, clean energy, biotechnology, smart manufacturing, etc. and expects the University of Sydney to play a supporting role in training high-quality human resources.
The University of Sydney – currently ranked 25th in the world according to QS Rankings, is committed to sharing expertise, experience and innovation center management models. Professor Ali Abbas assessed that Ho Chi Minh City has great potential to become a destination for international knowledge centers if it plays a good role in coordinating and testing policies.

At the meeting, the two sides also frankly discussed existing barriers such as financial mechanisms, intellectual property laws and attracting international experts.
