Ho Chi Minh City organizes two national boat races

VHO - Authorized by the Vietnam Sports Administration, for the first time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnam Rowing Federation to host the National Traditional Rowing Championship and the National Canoeing Championship for Youth, U21, U23 in 2025, from August 12 to 22 at Da Bang Lake (Phuoc Trung village, Nghia Thanh commune, Ho Chi Minh City).

The two tournaments had the participation of 780 members, including coaches and athletes from 19 units: An Giang, Bac Ninh, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Lam Dong, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Quang Tri, Army, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Long.

The National Championship is the basis for Vietnamese rowing to select forces to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.

Accordingly, The National Youth, U21, U23 Canoeing Championship will feature 32 events for group 1 (youth), 31 events for group 2 (U21), and 34 events for group 3 (U23) for both men and women with 2 types of Canoe Kayaks.

The National Traditional Rowing Championship features 18 events for men, women and mixed races for 10- and 20-rower boats.

By hosting these two tournaments, we aim to continue the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" and develop the movement of people participating in practicing water sports .

The two tournaments also contribute to promoting the development of the Canoeing and traditional boat racing movement throughout the country, preserving and promoting the nation's cultural and sports traditions; enhancing understanding, exchange and solidarity between localities.

At the same time, improve the capacity of organizing competitions, the management of referees in Canoeing and traditional boat racing. Prepare training venues, and the project to host the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026.

Along with that, the tournament aims to test and evaluate the quality of training and education of Canoeing and traditional boat racing athletes nationwide to select forces to compete in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
