According to the above document, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City will be June 6 and 7. Candidates will take 3 subjects: math, literature (120 minutes/subject), foreign language (90 minutes).
Candidates registering for the entrance exam to specialized high schools in the city must take the fourth subject (specialized subject) with a test time of 150 minutes/subject.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, each specialized subject has its own exam according to the secondary school curriculum, and the exam content ensures the selection of students with talent in that specialized subject.
The structure of the 3 subjects of the 10th grade entrance exam is as follows:
Literature has 2 parts.
The reading section will take materials from outside the textbook, including literary texts and one of two types: argumentative texts or informational texts. The total length of the test materials must not exceed 1,300 words.
The writing section includes:
Write a paragraph (about 200 words) with one of the following two requirements:
Write a paragraph about your feelings about a poem or a poem.
Write a paragraph analyzing the content, the unique features of the work's artistic form, and its aesthetic effect.
The second is to write an essay with one of the following two requirements:
Write an argumentative essay on a life issue, clearly presenting the issue and the writer's opinion (agree or disagree) on that issue; providing convincing arguments and evidence.

In which, the assessment basis is the requirements to be achieved in reading comprehension and writing in the 2018 General Education Program - Literature subject at secondary school level, mainly grades 8 and 9. The test is built according to the orientation of integrating the assessment of reading comprehension and writing ability, the content in the writing section is related to the text in the reading comprehension section.
The 10th grade math entrance exam has 7 questions.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the math exam for 10th grade admission will include the following knowledge streams: Geometry and Measurement; Numbers and Algebra; Statistics and Probability.
The test content aims to assess mathematical abilities: Mathematical thinking and reasoning; Mathematical problem solving; Mathematical modeling.
The exam will require students to apply their knowledge to solve practical problems. Encourage self-study and creativity, and avoid rote learning.

The phonetic section includes:
- How to pronounce basic vowels and consonants
- How to place word stress correctly
The vocabulary and grammar sections will diversify the types of vocabulary and semantics of words according to the program framework.
The communication and real-life situation contact section includes:
- Ability to understand and respond to simple situations of real-life language reading comprehension.
- Read a text of 180-200 words and find information.
- Read and fill in the blanks of a text of 80-100 words.
The writing part will include:
- Write the correct form of the word to complete the sentence with the appropriate meaning.
- Write simple sentences based on the given information.
- Write sentences using your knowledge of grammar structures and word combinations.
The 10th grade entrance exam in English consists of 4 parts:

Grade 9 students in the 2024-2025 school year are the first batch of students to take the 10th grade entrance exam under the new program. Therefore, many parents are very worried.
