Ho Chi Minh City has rain after a month of hot weather

VnExpressVnExpress27/02/2024

Widespread rain has reduced the heat in many areas of the city after a series of long, intense hot days on the afternoon of February 27.

At around 3pm, dark clouds rolled in, causing rain in some Go Vap districts, Thu Duc City and the city centre. The rain lasted for about 10 minutes over a large area, forcing many passersby to take shelter under the eaves. The unseasonal rain caused the outside temperature to drop by 2-3 degrees, helping to reduce the heat after about a month of intense heat.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, high-altitude easterly wind disturbances have caused localized rain in Ho Chi Minh City and some southern provinces. The short-term rain has reduced the heat, but temperatures remain at 36-37 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological agency advised people to avoid unseasonal rains like the above because the water contains many air pollutants. Some people caught in the rain are susceptible to catching colds due to the sudden change in temperature.

Since early February, the South has experienced a heat wave with a stronger intensity than previous years due to the influence of El Nino. It is forecasted that there will be prolonged and widespread heat waves, concentrated in March and April. By the end of April, the southern provinces will enter the rainy season.
