On November 20, in Hanoi , General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) Le Ngoc Son had a meeting and worked with Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Vietnam Agostinho Fernandes.

Also attending the meeting, on PetroVietnam's side, there were representatives of the Group's departments/offices; and representatives of PVEP.

At the meeting, PetroVietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son informed the Ambassador about the Group's overall production and business activities. PetroVietnam operates in 5 main areas, including Oil and Gas Exploration and Exploitation; Gas Industry; Oil and Gas Processing; Electricity and Renewable Energy Industry; High-quality Oil and Gas Technical Services.

At the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in November 2021, Vietnam, along with 150 countries, made a strong commitment to carbon neutrality. Accordingly, the Vietnamese Government has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

As a leading state-owned economic group, holding a core position in ensuring national energy security, PetroVietnam is committed to accompanying the Government in implementing the roadmap for emission reduction. The Group aims to develop into a national Industry - Energy Group, not only maintaining and improving operational efficiency in traditional energy sectors but also strongly participating in the new energy and renewable energy value chain.

General Director Le Ngoc Son emphasized that, in addition to domestic exploration and exploitation activities, Petrovietnam also seeks opportunities and develops investment and exploitation strategies abroad. Therefore, PetroVietnam leaders expressed their hope that the Ambassador will become a bridge to promote the cooperative relationship between PetroVietnam and Angola's Sonangol Oil and Gas Group, thereby contributing to economic development and ensuring energy security of the two countries.
