Dak Lak "breaks through" durian industry with 41,000 hectares and a plan of 50,000 tons by 2030

Faced with increasing pressure from the market, the durian industry in Dak Lak is promoting the development of “green lane” businesses and proposing to announce safe growing areas to control product quality.

Currently, the durian growing area of Dak Lak province is about 41,000 hectares, with an estimated output of about 400,000 tons in 2025, a significant increase compared to previous years.

Large output brings challenges in quality control and maintaining stable output, especially when the Chinese market - the main consumer of Vietnamese durian in general and Dak Lak in particular - is tightening regulations on checking for pesticide residues such as amber and heavy metals such as cadmium.

Faced with this situation, the Dak Lak durian industry needs to strictly adhere to export standards. Mr. Le Tan Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Thang Tien Agricultural Cooperative (Krong Pac district), said that the cooperative currently manages an area of 2,500 hectares of durian.

The cooperative's expected 2025 crop output is expected to reach 8,000 to 10,000 tons, and could increase to 50,000 tons by 2030. With such a large volume, the cooperative pays special attention to sustainable development and ensuring stable output for farmers.

Currently, the Cooperative has applied QR codes to trace the origin of each garden in the growing areas, in order to increase transparency and control quality. The Cooperative wishes to cooperate with processing and exporting enterprises to build a standard raw material area, providing safe, biological, organic products with clear traceability.
