This year, Hanoi has more than 103,000 students competing for 81,000 public school places, with an admission rate of 78.6%.
Compared to 127,000 9th grade students in the 2024-2025 school year in Hanoi, the rate of students entering public 10th grade after junior high school is about 64%.
This number increases by about 3% compared to 2024, corresponding to about 1,500 more scholarships.
A new point in the organization of the entrance exam for grade 10 of public high schools in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year is that the exam scores and benchmark scores for grade 10 will be announced on the same day. In previous years, benchmark scores were usually announced a few days after the exam scores.

It is expected that by July 8 at the latest, schools will receive exam result reports to issue to students.
Students who wish to have their grades reviewed must submit their applications from July 4 to July 10.
From July 10 to July 12, admitted students must confirm their enrollment.
Immediately after receiving the scores, any candidate who is concerned about the subject scores can submit a request for re-evaluation.
On July 17, the Department of Education and Training and specialized high schools and public high schools will meet to approve additional admission scores for public grade 10 (if any). From July 19 to July 22, schools will organize admission confirmation and receive additional admission applications (if any).
One of the notable new points in this year's 10th grade exam is the adjustment of the way the admission score is calculated. Instead of multiplying the coefficient by 2 for math and literature as in previous years; in 2025, the admission score will be the total score of 3 subjects (math, literature, foreign language), each subject is calculated on a 10-point scale and does not have a coefficient. This calculation method aims to ensure fairness between subjects and encourage students to study all subjects equally.
The formula for calculating the admission score (Score) for grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools in Hanoi in 2025 is as follows:
DXT = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + Priority score (if any) + Encouragement score (if any).
