The event is an opportunity for parents and students to learn about the admission requirements and application process for the October 2025 intake. In addition, the event is an opportunity for attendees to learn about other pathways to become an RMIT student such as the University Foundation Program or UniStart.

University Foundation is very popular in countries such as the UK, Canada and especially Australia. In Vietnam, this program is taught by RMIT in Vietnam and is currently attracting the attention of many parents. This program is equivalent to grade 12 in the Australianeducation system and is a pathway to university, replacing the high school diploma. The University Foundation program usually lasts 1 year, including 2 semesters.

RMIT Vietnam has introduced this program since 2022 with a structure and training content according to Australian education standards. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be eligible to enter directly into the first year of a bachelor's degree program at RMIT Vietnam or RMIT Melbourne along with many other advantages.

University Preparation helps students bond with friends before becoming RMIT students together

With the goal of "preparing early" the foundation for university studies and future career success, the University Foundation program is designed according to specialized directions (streams) corresponding to the training fields at RMIT. University Foundation students study subjects directly related to their majors in addition to cultivating learning and research skills in an international university environment. At the same time, using facilities and services like a real student also helps them integrate early into the real learning environment later.

With small class sizes, Foundation students receive personal attention and guidance from lecturers to help them develop and perfect the skills necessary for successful university study. This helps them make a smoother transition to university. Internal surveys from the school also show that the average first-year GPA of students who have studied Foundation here is up to 31% higher in some majors than those who have not gone through this program. This shows the positive impact of early preparation.

As one of many students who achieved excellent graduation results from the University Preparation program at RMIT, Phan Thanh Tuan strongly agreed with this advantage and shared, "The class and teachers made me feel close and comfortable so that I could gradually get used to it and not feel overwhelmed. The content of the program helped me prepare for research, essay writing, and report writing. I see this as an advantage for me.

“A good program will help students build an academic foundation while developing the critical thinking, communication and research skills needed for an international university environment,” said Dr Jennifer Howard, Head of Foundation Studies at RMIT Vietnam.

Art, Design and Architecture Foundation students on graduation day

RMIT Vietnam currently offers Foundation Studies with four different specialisations for undergraduate majors at RMIT Vietnam and Australia, including: Business; Art, Design and Architecture; Communication and Social Context; Information Technology. With a specialisation, students can choose one of the majors within the same field at RMIT. For example, students who graduate from the Foundation Studies in Business can choose one of the majors within the School of Business at RMIT.

Lai Thu Van received her Bachelor's degree from University Preparation.

Studying Foundation also helps students discover and identify their long-term passions, thereby choosing the most suitable major. Lai Thu Van, a student who has just graduated from Foundation at RMIT, explains, "Studying a variety of subjects from the beginning also helps me have a solid knowledge foundation and makes it easier for me to choose the major that suits me."
