According to records, compared to more than a month ago, the price of dried coconut and fresh coconut in the province has gradually cooled down. Specifically, traders are currently purchasing Malaysian coconuts (chu butt type) at a price of about 110,000 VND/dozen, Malaysian (gourd butt type) from 115,000 - 120,000 VND/dozen. Dried coconuts are currently at about 170,000 VND/dozen (14 fruits).

The family of Ms. Le Thi Thu Van (Binh Thuan Hamlet, Song Binh Commune, Cho Gao District) grows 3 hectares of Malay coconuts (butt chu type) about 8 years old. Each harvest yields about 2 thousand coconuts. Ms. Van said: “Up to now, this year is the highest price for fresh coconuts. Recently, I sold coconuts at the highest price of 130,000 VND/dozen. In recent days, due to the decrease in coconut prices, this time I sell coconuts at 110,000 VND/dozen. Last year, the highest price for fresh coconuts was only 95,000 VND/dozen. With this price, the gardeners are very happy, making a good profit, growing coconuts sells much better than growing rice.”

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phu, a trader specializing in purchasing coconuts in Cho Gao district, the price of fresh coconuts in the area has gradually decreased. Specifically, the price of Malay coconuts (chu butt type) is currently 110,000 VND/dozen, and Malay coconuts (gourd butt type) are 115,000 - 120,000 VND/dozen, a decrease of about 20,000 - 30,000 VND/dozen compared to the previous period. The reason for the decrease in fresh coconut prices is because it is the rainy season. Another reason for the decrease in coconut prices is that the Chinese market is also stopping "buying goods".

“I am currently purchasing coconuts to supply the markets in the northern provinces. On average, I purchase and export about 4-5 thousand coconuts per day (each thousand has 1,200 fruits). Coconuts have high prices mainly thanks to exports to the Chinese market. Without this market, the prices would not be so high. Currently, China has stopped “buying goods”, so it is predicted that in the near future, coconut prices will continue to decrease,” Mr. Phu added.
