The Vietnam U22 team is training in Ba Ria (HCMC) to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship taking place in Indonesia.
Answering the press before the training session on the afternoon of July 8, striker Nguyen Dinh Bac shared about the preparation process of the Vietnam U22 team for the tournament.
The striker born in 2004 shared: "Competition helps the whole team, whoever performs well will be selected. Each player must try to perform to be on the final list."
Dinh Bac has been absent for a long time after being injured in the first training session of the training camp in May. Therefore, he said he needs to make more effort than his teammates to regain his form.
"My goal is to always want to contribute to the national team, so I have to try my best. I need to try harder because I have had a long injury break. Only by trying my best can I be on the final list and be on the field," he said.

Evaluating the current training period, Dinh Bac said that the two recent friendly wins against U22 Taiwan 5-0 and 2-1 at Ba Ria Stadium brought a lot of value.
He said: "The two friendly matches with U22 Taiwan helped the whole team connect better before the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
During training sessions, coach Kim and the coaching staff always convey fighting spirit and training awareness so that the whole team can maintain the best quality."
The young striker of the Hanoi Police Club also emphasized that coach Kim Sang Sik always promotes a fierce and enthusiastic competitive spirit, even in friendly matches.
In terms of technical skills, the coaching staff focuses on ball control and passing skills - key factors to help the team operate effectively.
After the first round of shortlisting on July 7, the U22 Vietnam team now has 28 players. The team will continue to practice in Ba Ria - Vung Tau until July 12. After that, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will move to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the flight to Indonesia on the morning of July 14.
Before leaving, the Korean coach will announce the official list of 23 players participating in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will take place from July 15 to 31 in Indonesia with the participation of 10 teams, divided into 3 groups. The teams will compete in a round-robin to calculate points, selecting the 3 group winners and 1 second-place team with the best results to enter the semi-finals.
The U22 Vietnam team is in Group B and will meet Laos (July 19) and Cambodia (July 22). In this tournament, the U22 Vietnam team has won the championship twice in a row in 2022 and 2023.
