Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong works with museums and relic sites under the Ministry

On the morning of July 24, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong chaired the first 6-month meeting of 2025 between the Ministry's leaders and the Museums and Relic Sites under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In the first half of the year, museums and relic sites recorded a high increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period last year. Of which, the Vietnam National Museum of History welcomed 111,504 visitors (74,318 visitors at the museum; 36,507 visitors online); 679 visitors in collaboration with other museums/relics. The website published 429 news items, with more than 19 million visits in 6 months.

Ho Chi Minh Museum has welcomed and served 444,615 visitors, including 46,514 foreign visitors; posted 315 articles in Vietnamese, 135 in English, 117 in Chinese, and 30 videos on the Museum's website and fanpage.

In addition, Museums and Relic Sites have actively coordinated closely with units in publishing publications; coordinated and consulted with localities to carry out a number of excavation programs, thereby collecting and preserving many artifacts, while building and training a team of good professional staff. Display and exhibition activities have been innovated and diversified, including important topics associated with important events of the country.

In the last 6 months of 2025, in addition to professional tasks, Museums and Relic Sites are urgently preparing for the important task of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

At the meeting, relevant agencies under the Ministry evaluated the professional activities of Museums and Relic Sites. At the same time, they requested that Museums and Relic Sites closely monitor and pay more attention to complete the remaining workload this year.

Speaking at the Conference, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong highly appreciated the work and achievements of the Museum and Relic Site units in the first half of 2025. Basically, the professional tasks of each Museum and Relic Site unit have been completed. This is the basis for completing the tasks in the remaining period.

"Each Museum and Relic Site has its own characteristics and properties. It is recommended that the collective leadership of each unit has plans to promote its own strengths. The Department of Cultural Heritage and the departments and divisions under the Ministry monitor and closely coordinate with the Museums and Relic Sites to ensure 100% implementation of the tasks committed to the Ministry's leaders according to the plan and schedule" - Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized.

The Deputy Minister assigned the Department of Organization and Personnel (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and the Department of Cultural Heritage to make recommendations and provide guidance to help units improve and supplement their personnel. At the same time, support units to fully meet the standards for ranking Vietnamese museums.

In the near future, the Deputy Minister also requested that Museums and Relic Sites strengthen the preparation of facilities, tour content, and exhibitions according to the criteria: Fire prevention and fighting safety, display of artifacts, landscapes, etc.

"Request that units immediately after the meeting proceed to develop a plan for the last 6 months of the year. In particular, it is necessary to ensure the targets and tasks of the year. Factors such as content, quantity, and quality must be taken into consideration, and there must be a general strategy and specific characteristics of the Museum and Relic Site" - Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong requested.
