"The people are waiting, we must get in by any means" was the determination of the whole group when they were on the only road to the commune. After more than three hours for a distance of only about 30km from the district center, the group arrived.

Inside the yard and the hall of Den Thanh commune were packed with people, everyone waiting. They were all poor households. Hardship compounded by hardship after the super typhoon and flood swept away almost all their rice, livestock and all their assets.

Receiving a gift (2 million VND) from young volunteers in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Ly Thi Khoa (60 years old) hugged it to her chest, moved. A letter fell out of the gift. She took it, gave it to the young girl next to her and said, "Please read it to Khoa and see what it is" in the Dao ethnic language.

It turns out that it is a letter of appreciation sent to our compatriots in each gift.

The letter said: "Super typhoon No. 3 Yagi is the strongest typhoon to hit our mainland in the past 70 years. It has made landfall in the northern provinces, causing extremely heavy damage to people and property.

Although the agencies and functional units have proactively and actively responded to storms and floods, the destructive power of storms and floods is so strong that it is impossible to avoid the severe damage caused by storms and floods (houses destroyed, gardens washed away, fields devastated, means of livelihood buried...), seriously affecting the lives of people in the northern provinces.

The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and readers of Tuoi Tre newspaper would like to send our warmest regards to all members, youths and children. At the same time, we would like to send a gift to the family in the hope of contributing a small part to help the family overcome the consequences caused by the storm and flood.

The Youth Union and readers of Tuoi Tre newspaper believe that with the spirit of overcoming difficulties, the leadership of the Party, the government and the hearts of the people of the whole country, people in storm and flood areas will soon stabilize their lives. Sincerely!".

After hearing the girl who admitted that she was not very good at "Kinh" translate the letter into the Dao language, Ms. Khoa burst into tears. She said that all her life she had only been around Den Thanh commune, the farthest place she had ever set foot was Lao Cai city, but today she was very moved by the sincere sharing of the youth of Ho Chi Minh City, which to her had always been a strange place.

In her ethnic language, Ms. Khoa asked the girl to translate for her that she was "extremely touched and grateful for the help that people from all over the country have sent."

The Dao ethnic woman left a bright smile before leaving. Following her back to the village where she said she had spent her whole life that day, there was still so much love and care that the youth of Ho Chi Minh City through the City Youth Union and readers of Tuoi Tre newspaper lovingly sent in each small gift package from the South to the North.

'Before the flood, I was considered rich, but now I have nothing, not even a house to live in,' said Tan Kim Dien (40 years old, in Seo Po Ho village, Muong Hum commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province).
