• Meet the two valedictorians of the Pedagogy major
  • The only valedictorian in the whole country in block B00, from Ca Mau

Learn to grow, live to contribute

For 12 consecutive years, he has been an excellent student, was one of the 10 members of the national team of excellent students in Mathematics, and won countless awards. These are the achievements that Vo Truong Gia Huan has silently accumulated during his learning journey. But when talking about himself, Huan just smiles gently: "I study because of passion, because I feel happy when I conquer difficult exercises and want my parents to feel secure."

Not a class monitor or class officer, Huan quietly left his mark with his outstanding ability and enthusiasm in all movement activities. Ms. Nguyen Le Bao Han, homeroom teacher of grade 12 Math, commented: “Huan is a student with very good self-study ability, always making great efforts in studying, at the same time very sociable, dynamic, always participating in sports , arts and movement activities of the class and the school. He is not only a good student but also very emotional.”

Huan did not hide the fact that he had planned to pursue Computer Science at the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City) when he participated in the first round of the Competency Assessment Test of Ho Chi Minh City National University with an impressive score of 931/1,200 points. However, due to his family tradition and the orientation of his parents - who work in the Procuracy, Huan decided to choose the Political Officer major and placed his first choice at a school in Hanoi.

Although I feel a little regretful for not being able to pursue the career I loved from the beginning, I think this decision is reasonable. I want to live responsibly, be trained in a disciplined environment to become more mature,” Vo Truong Gia Huan confided.

Persistently self-study, steadfastly overcome pressure

Without the conditions to study too much, not following the trend of intensive exam preparation, Huan chose a smart and suitable way to study. For Math, his forte, he only needs to study by himself, and for Physics and Chemistry, he studies in small groups with friends and teachers at school, or studies online.

“At first, I planned to wake up early to review my lessons, but because I studied a lot at night, I couldn’t get up in the morning. So I rearranged my schedule, studied at a moderate level, and kept my mind relaxed to absorb more effectively,” Huan shared his study secrets.

Not only studying, Huan also knows how to balance his time to play sports and entertain himself with light games. “I think we have to study to live, not live just to study. To study effectively, we have to be happy and proactive,” Huan confided.

With an impressive score of 37.5, including perfect scores in Math and Physics, near-perfect scores in Chemistry and 7.75 in Literature, Huan was not too surprised because he had predicted the results almost correctly by checking the answers after the exam. Huan shared: "I was just afraid of filling in the wrong answer sheet, but I was sure of the answer."

For Huan, family is a solid support that helps him maintain his learning spirit. As the eldest child in the family, living with his grandfather who is over 80 years old, Huan always feels the love and moderate expectations from his parents. Although not imposing, the family still maintains strict discipline, creating conditions for him to be independent and mature.

Having participated in the “Military Semester” twice since middle school, Huan is no stranger to a disciplined collective environment. He is mentally prepared to go to Hanoi to study away from home, ready to adapt and wait for the day he puts on his regular military uniform.

New journey, new responsibility

Although he felt a little regretful about temporarily putting aside his passion for information technology, Huan still chose the military path with initiative and responsibility. “I think young people should know how to listen and also know how to accept. If you don’t follow your passion, then create a passion from your own choice,” Huan expressed.

There will be no grand celebration for the valedictorian title. For Huan, the greatest reward is the proud eyes of his grandfather, the satisfied smiles of his parents and the trust of his teachers and friends. The road ahead is still long, but with a strong inner strength, a sincere heart and a spirit of dedication, I believe that the valedictorian of the land at the end of the Fatherland will walk firmly and shine wherever he sets foot./.
