On the morning of August 31, the film reached a new revenue milestone after more than a week in theaters, including sneakshows. According to the distributor Galaxy Studio, the film has attracted nearly three million viewers. On August 30, the film's daily revenue was more than VND42 billion, seven times that of Get Rich With Ghosts 2 - the work ranked second in the rankings.

Red Rain has been continuously increasing its screenings, currently reaching nearly 5,000 screenings nationwide each day. The film is expected to soon surpass The Four Guardians - directed by Tran Thanh, with a revenue of 332 billion VND - to become the highest-grossing Vietnamese film since the beginning of the year.

Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong - founder of Box Office Vietnam, an independent box office observation unit - believes that with current ticket sales, the film is likely to surpass the achievements of Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc (directed by Ly Hai, 482 billion VND), Mai (directed by Tran Thanh, 551 billion VND).

The film scored points thanks to its emotional story and well-invested setting. The crew surveyed locations in more than 10 provinces and cities, including Dong Mo and Son Tay, Hanoi, to build a film set. They planned to dig a 500-meter-long river section, but it was not feasible because at that time the North did not have enough rain and water. Finally, the crew decided to build a 50-hectare film set on the banks of the Thach Han River, where the battle to protect the ancient citadel took place.

The ancient citadel set was completely rebuilt, but parts of it were washed away by Typhoon Yagi . The crew had to rebuild it, causing filming to start later than planned.

When playing the roles of soldiers in Squad 1, the cast trained hard and lost weight to match the image of soldiers in the "hunger-filled" period. Actor Phuong Nam (as Captain Ta) lost 15 kg. Dinh Khang (as Tu) also lost 11 kg and learned to swim quickly to prepare for the role.

The script follows the events of 81 days and nights of fighting to protect the ancient citadel. The central character - Cuong (played by Do Nhat Hoang) - a student of the Conservatory of Music, generous and good at martial arts. He gave up the opportunity to study abroad to join the army. During the days of fighting in Quang Tri, Cuong fought side by side with the squad, including Ta - the team leader, Binh, Tu, Hai, Sen. They came from different hometowns, different backgrounds and personalities, but shared the same goal of fighting for peace .

Towards the end, the story becomes more intense, the number of platoon 1 gradually decreases after each sweep. The director directly films the image of soldiers buried in the ground, their body parts separated. The river crossing scene in the film also brings many tears to the audience. The work also opens up a humane perspective on the soldiers of the Republic of Vietnam. They are also fathers, husbands, sons, with relatives waiting to return.
