Mistaken admission combination at University of Social Sciences and Humanities

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University , Hanoi once made a mistake when announcing the component subjects of an admission combination (D66), causing many candidates to have enough standard scores but still fail their wishes.

The D66 group was initially announced by the school to include the subjects Literature, English, Economic and Legal Education. However, in June, the school announced a correction to include the subjects Literature, English, and Civic Education. Many candidates did not know about this announcement, so when they took the entrance exam with the D66 group, they were surprised to find that they had enough points to pass but still failed their desired choice.

Finally, the school admitted its mistake and announced a solution, accepting admission to both types of combinations.

University changes admission requirements for Law major

Another incident that has affected many candidates is related to the admission process of the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City. Many candidates said that even though their exam scores were higher than the school's announced standard, they still could not be admitted to the Law and Economic Law majors because the school changed the admission requirements.

Initially, the school announced that one of the conditions for admission to the law major was that the subject combinations including Math and Literature, or Math or Literature, must achieve a minimum score of 6 points or higher. However, the school later adjusted the requirement that candidates must achieve a minimum score of 6 points in both Literature and Math to be considered for admission to these majors.

Finally, on the morning of August 26, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University has come up with a solution. Accordingly, candidates applying for admission to the law majors of the school only need to meet the conditions as initially announced, that is, for subject combinations including Math and Literature, either Math or Literature must achieve a minimum score of 6 points or higher on a 10-point scale.

System error causes candidates to be reported as failing or passing the wrong choice

In this year's admission, many candidates still have enough points to pass their upper choice but are reported to have passed their lower choice or not reported to have passed any choice on the system.

Sharing on social networks, a candidate said that he registered for NV2 in the Psychology major of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; NV3 in the Legal Education major of Hue University of Education. When the schools announced the admission scores, the candidate found that he lacked points in his second choice (he was not admitted); NV3 exceeded the admission score - meaning he could have been admitted. However, when looking up on the Ministry of Education and Training's system, he was told that he had failed all his choices. The candidate contacted Hue University of Education and was told that he had been admitted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education according to NV2.

On the contrary, many candidates who did not meet the standard score were still reported to have passed the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education due to technical errors.

Sharing with VietNamNet reporter , a candidate said that he got 25.71 points, registered 4 wishes for the majors of Mathematics Pedagogy and Primary Education at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Saigon University. With this score, he is qualified to be admitted to the major of Primary Education at Saigon University (25.17 points).

However, when looking up the system, the candidate received the result “failed”. When contacting the school, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education told him that this was a system error, and that he had actually passed the entrance exam to Saigon University. However, when the candidate asked Saigon University directly, the school confirmed that he had passed his higher choice, which was to enter Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

The conflicting announcements from the two schools left candidates confused, not knowing where they were officially admitted.

On the side of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, when discovering that there were candidates who did not meet the admission standards but were still admitted, the school sent a document to the Ministry of Education and Training and related schools. The school said that due to a technical error, some candidates who did not meet the required scores were still reported as having passed, while at that time the Ministry had completed the virtual filtering so the candidates could not be considered for other wishes.

To ensure rights, the school requests the Ministry of Education and Training to allow candidates to continue to be considered for admission in the following wishes, and at the same time calls on schools to coordinate and support.

Sharing with VietNamNet , an admissions expert said that the cause of the above incidents comes from the operations in the admissions process and processing of applications.

The vice principal of a university in Hanoi said that this year's enrollment is not like previous years, so schools have more work to do. According to him, with the incidents that have occurred, even those who are directly involved in enrollment work at the university are stressed and confused.

“Many problems in the admission process this year are not due to the fault of the individuals in charge but stem from changes, especially in the general admission method,” he said.
