National Highway 1K, over 21 km long, is a vital route connecting three provinces in the Southeast region. Of which, the section through Ho Chi Minh City is nearly 2 km long, Binh Duong is about 5 km, and the rest through Dong Nai. Fifteen years ago, after the BOT road upgrade project was completed, two toll stations were set up in Binh Duong and Dong Nai to reimburse investors.

By October 2020, the toll collection was completed and the two BOT stations stopped operating. However, for nearly three years, these two stations have not been dismantled due to incomplete project procedures. This causes traffic safety problems and in fact, there have been many accidents related to these toll stations. The authorities of Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces have repeatedly requested the Ministry of Transport to dismantle them soon.

Regarding National Highway 1K, the Ministry of Transport has just decided to hand over this route to Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai for management, exploitation, and maintenance according to the recommendations of these localities.
