On the evening of May 31, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2025 officially opened on the banks of the Han River, marking the brilliant return of the largest cultural and tourism event every summer in the central coastal city.

With the theme “Cultural Essence”, the opening night kicks off a series of 6 performances lasting until July 12 – becoming the longest and largest DIFF season in its 15 years of organization.

More than 10,000 spectators filled the stands on both banks of the Han River to watch the opening "confrontation" between the host team Vietnam 1 and the reigning champion of DIFF 2024 - Finland. Not disappointing expectations, the two teams brought eye-catching, emotional and culturally impressive fireworks displays.

With more than 5,000 fireworks fired in over 20 minutes, the performance of Vietnam Team 1 was a magnificent symphony of light, recounting the journey of Vietnamese culture reaching the world .

With four clear chapters - Blending - Honoring - Integration - Pioneering & Glory, the team takes the audience through each cultural slice: from the tradition with strong identity to the spirit of innovation and international integration. Each performance is a layer of emotion - pride, calmness, excitement and sublimation, expressed through the language of fireworks combined with modern music and delicate symphonies.

The four fireworks chapters: Harmony - Honor - Integration - Pioneering & Glory tell the story of Vietnamese culture's journey to the world.

From the sparkling fireworks effects on the Han River, the audience's emotions range from profound to explosive.

Not to be outdone, the Finnish team delivered an elaborate, emotional performance. Opening with vibrant pop rock melodies such as Diamond Eyes, Liar, Heroes Are Calling, the performance quickly drew the audience into a vibrant, energetic atmosphere.

The highlight of the performance was the “water cannon” – a technique that brought the team victory at DIFF 2024, which continued to be creatively exploited. The cannons rose from the water, moving softly like waves and then suddenly exploding strongly like a column of waves hitting a cliff. Combined with the rhythmic light effects, the performance evoked the harsh survival journey of the Northern European people on the remote island.

The surprise was heightened when a performance used the song Bong phu hoa – Vu tru co bay, bringing a moment of intersection between two cultures.

The Finnish team's performance impressed the audience.

The whole sky seemed to light up with bright green, purple and pink fireworks combined with music to bring explosive emotions.

Water cannons, the “trick” that made Finland win at DIFF last year, continue to be exploited creatively.

In particular, during a fireworks show, the Vietnamese audience couldn’t help but exclaim with delight when hearing the song “Bong phu hoa – Vu tru co bay” resounding in the middle of the performance. A Vietnamese song, but resounding among the sounds of fireworks with a Nordic color like a friendly greeting, showing the team’s integration and respect for the local culture.

DIFF 2025 takes place from May 31 to July 12, with many new and different features compared to previous festival seasons. This year, for the first time, the number of competing teams is the largest - 10 teams. The festival lasts the longest with 6 nights of performance.

The 10 competing teams include representatives from Poland, Finland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Italy, Canada, China and 2 host teams from Vietnam.

With an unprecedented scale, the festival is not only an international-class fireworks playground but also a boost for Da Nang tourism and culture this summer.
