After 200 days of implementation, Thai Binh province has completed the elimination of 3,007 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs.

The need to implement the project

According to the 2023 review results, Thai Binh province still has 11,925 poor households (accounting for 1.82%) and 12,587 near-poor households (accounting for 1.92%). In recent times, the province has always paid attention to caring for families of people with revolutionary contributions and sustainable poverty reduction and achieved many positive results. However, there are still a number of poor and near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs who need housing support. Most of these households are living in houses that were built a long time ago, are degraded, dilapidated, unsafe during storms or do not meet the minimum living area. Mr. Bui Van Quyet, Deputy Head of the Department of People with Meritorious Services, Department of Home Affairs, said: Thai Binh is a coastal province, often affected by natural disasters and extreme weather such as storms, tornadoes, high tides, etc. Temporary, damaged houses are difficult to withstand, posing great risks to people's lives and property. Therefore, building new and repairing houses for the above subjects is an urgent and humane task, contributing to helping them have a safe and stable place to live, and feel secure to move forward in life.

Correct policy, decisive action

Mr. Ha Tien Thang, Director of the Department of Home Affairs, said: As the standing agency of the Provincial Steering Committee, the Department of Home Affairs has proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Steering Committee to effectively implement the project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. At the same time, it has closely coordinated with departments, branches, and localities to direct, urge, and guide the timely removal of difficulties and problems arising during the implementation process. Thanks to that, up to now, all poor and near-poor households, meritorious people, and martyrs' relatives who are eligible for support have completed the construction or repair of new houses.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Anh, Secretary of Vu Thu District Party Committee, informed: The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee has directed communes and towns to review the correct and sufficient beneficiaries; requested specialized departments to guide convenient procedures, and Party committees from commune to village levels to proactively resolve difficulties right at the grassroots level. Thanks to the drastic participation, the program has been implemented effectively and smoothly. Vu Thu has completed the elimination of 212 temporary and dilapidated houses, exceeding the schedule assigned by the province.

Mr. Tran Huu Nam, Secretary of Hung Ha District Party Committee shared: In early June 2025, the district completed the elimination of 470 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs. To achieve that result, Hung Ha was determined from the beginning, establishing inspection and supervision teams, especially promoting the role of the community and organizations in supervision and support. Thanks to mobilizing collective strength, local children and socialized resources, the program was implemented quickly and ensured quality.

Fulfill your dream of settling down

With high political determination and the synchronous participation of the entire political system, after only 200 days of implementation, Thai Binh province has completed the elimination of 3,007 temporary and dilapidated houses with a total cost of more than 365 billion VND. Of which, 2,109 houses were newly built or repaired for poor and near-poor households and 898 houses for households with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs. Mr. Ha Tien Thang, Director of the Department of Home Affairs, said: The elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses is a deeply humane program, showing sharing with poor and near-poor households and gratitude to those with meritorious services. This is not only support for safe housing but also adds motivation for households to improve their lives.

Affirming the humane significance of the program, Mr. Pham Van Vinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quynh Phu district, said: The completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses ahead of schedule has demonstrated the great concern and efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Thai Binh for the difficulties of poor and near-poor households, as well as deep gratitude to those who have contributed to the revolution and relatives of martyrs. That is the spirit of great national unity, "mutual love and affection", and responsibility to the people.

The completion of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs is an important milestone, demonstrating the superiority of the regime, spreading the spirit of humanity and sharing in the community. This is not only the result of numbers, but also the achievement of humanity, of the joint efforts of all levels, sectors and people. The success of the program also opens up a new direction in implementing social security policies and sustainable poverty reduction in the coming period.

Removing temporary and dilapidated houses is a very meaningful and deeply humane work, bringing a better life to households with housing difficulties.
