SIU Piano Competition 2024 brings together many young talents

The SIU Piano Competition 2024 is divided into two groups: Professional Group and Amateur Group for all contestants of all nationalities and ages. Dr. Liao Hsin-Chiao, member of the Schubert in a Mug (SiaM) Classical Music Project, member of the Amateur Group Jury, said that the SIU Piano Competition 2024 is the first year to open the Amateur Group to create opportunities for both professional and amateur contestants so that young people can enjoy the same opportunities.

With nearly 400 contestants registering from many countries around the world , the competition went through three preliminary, semi-final and final rounds lasting from June to July 31.

Launched in March 2024, SIU Piano Competition 2024 has received great attention from the academic music community in general and the piano community in particular. It has especially attracted a large number of contestants from many prestigious professional art training institutions in the country and internationally such as Singapore, Japan, Russia, the United States, India, Nigeria... who share a passion for classical music.

The jury of the competition includes Vietnamese and international pianists and lecturers from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, the Vietnam National Academy of Music, the World Piano Teachers Association (WPTA) in Malaysia, and advisory board members from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and the Ho Chi Minh City Symphony, Music and Ballet Theater.

Meritorious Artist Hoang Ngoc Long, Acting Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, assessed that the SIU Piano Competition in particular and music competitions in general have had an important influence on the development of the country's art scene. Through the competition, young talents have a healthy playground in cultural and artistic activities. The competition seeks out talents, thereby guiding them to develop their talents and careers.

The Gala & Awards Night of the SIU Piano Competition Season 2 honored outstanding talents and awarded 20 prizes with a total value of up to 1,170,000,000 VND.

SIU Piano Competition is held every two years.
