This information was recently spread on Facebook, with the content claiming that Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) ignored the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and conducted an autopsy on a COVID-19 patient, discovering that the disease was caused by a bacteria exposed to radiation, not a virus.

The article also claimed that Singapore viewed COVID-19 as a “global hoax” and had switched to treating patients with aspirin instead of WHO-recommended methods.

However, according to verification by NewsMobile newspaper, the above information is completely false.

In fact, this fake news was circulated in 2021, and has just resurfaced recently.

MOH has also denied the above unsubstantiated information.

In a press release on June 3, MOH stated: “Singapore did not conduct any such post-mortem examination. COVID-19 is not caused by bacteria as is being falsely reported.”

The ministry also posted a similar correction on its official Facebook page in 2021, when similar rumors first emerged.

Immediately after that, on June 4, mainstream media outlets such as the Straits Times and Channel News Asia quoted MOH completely denying this information, reassuring public opinion.

The Straits Times also recommends that people should update the latest and most accurate information from the official website of the Singapore Ministry of Health to avoid being misled by false information.

The false information has now been censored and removed from social media. Fact-checking experts warn people to consider carefully checking information before sharing, especially in the context of COVID-19 showing signs of returning in some countries.
