Candidates holding pens and exam papers go to Temple of Literature to pray for luck before the 2025 High School Exam

TPO - On the morning of June 21, many parents and students in Hanoi were present at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam to pray for everything to go smoothly and luckily before taking the upcoming High School Graduation Exam.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27. This year, the number of candidates registering for the exam in Hanoi increased by nearly 16,000 compared to 2024, putting great pressure on the preparation and organization of the exam.

Many parents and students in Hanoi and neighboring provinces flocked to the Temple of Literature from early morning to visit and celebrate.

The ticket counter is packed with people lining up at times.

Some classes prepared very carefully with raspberries and boiled chicken to offer at the Temple of Literature. Many families also brought offerings, incense, flowers, pens, rulers, and exam papers to pray for good luck for their children.

Expressing wishes before the doctoral steles, paying respects before the statue of the eminent teacher Chu Van An... these are the lucky activities that many students in the capital often perform at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam before important exams.

Although everyone has a different choice after graduating from high school, entering university is still a major event and also a big dream for 18-year-old students.

In 2025, Hanoi city will continue to have the largest number of candidates registering to take the high school graduation exam among localities.

The whole city has 124,072 candidates registered to take this exam, accounting for more than 1/10 of the total number of candidates nationwide.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, who works at the Armored Corps, also took advantage of the weekend to take her daughter to visit the Temple of Literature with the hope that her daughter would have the best spirit and be more confident after visiting the first university in Vietnam.

Some young people "imaginarily write" their wishes before the exam on the wall of the Temple of Literature .

For the candidates, this is an extremely important exam, marking the result of 12 years of studying. For some candidates, going to the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is like a spiritual support, making them feel more comfortable.

Most of the students born in 2007 bought their offerings right at the stalls in front of the Temple of Literature or in the Thai Hoc yard with bean cakes, ballpoint pens, incense, candles and yellow papers in red envelopes. The price for each basic offering like this is about 100,000 VND. They wrote their wishes for luck and success on the papers to present. Inside the main hall, parents and students respectfully offered their offerings.

A class of international school students are being introduced to the Temple of Literature by a tour guide.

The Temple of Literature is considered the first university in Vietnam. It worships three kings: Ly Thanh Tong, Ly Nhan Tong and Le Thanh Tong. They were kings who made great contributions to the feudal state of our country when they knew how to take education as the root of nation building.
