Many colors about police officers

The 5th National Professional Stage Arts Festival on the Image of Police Soldiers has 25 plays by 22 art units nationwide participating in the competition with 4 genres: drama, opera, reformed opera, and cheo; organized to vividly portray and honor the image of police soldiers on stage.

This is also an opportunity for art units and artists inside and outside the force to participate in exchanges, share experiences, discover and explore creativity in artistic work on the topic of security, order and the image of the People's Public Security (Public Security) soldier.

Ho Chi Minh City has 4 socialized drama stages participating in the festival, including: Hong Van stage with the play Another War (author: Tong Phuong Dung, director: Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat, art director: People's Artist Hong Van); Quoc Thao stage staged Deep Night (author and director: Meritorious Artist Quoc Thao); Truong Hung Minh art stage chose to stage the play Emotional Reunion (author: Hoai Huong, director: Le Quoc Nam, art advisor: People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau) and HN Media Communication and Entertainment Company staged the play Sugar-coated Bullet (director: Mi Le).

Each play brings to the audience its own unique colors, about the fight against crime, the contributions and silent sacrifices of the people's police officers with the aspiration to contribute to maintaining peace for the people. Besides the dramatic investigation and crime-solving stories... the crew also focuses on exploiting the psychological depth, emotions, conflicts, worries, and pains of the police officers in their married life, raising children, in their relationships, the hesitation before decisions that create many turning points in life... to thereby reflect the thoughts, silent sacrifices, personal feelings that are rich in humanity and very ordinary of the police officers in life.

The silent sacrificers

One thing in common is that the 4 plays of the Ho Chi Minh City stage participating in the festival all focus on current issues. The play Deep Night by Quoc Thao Drama Theater chose a thorny and hot topic today: human trafficking, kidnapping, and tricking young people to go abroad to carry out illegal activities. This is a very difficult topic for theater people because it is closely related to real life today. Meritorious Artist Quoc Thao shared that the production team had to practice for 3 months, practicing and editing, adding to ensure the details were reasonable and realistic.

Not only the struggles and professional techniques, the plays also reflect the deepest concerns and worries of police officers with their profession and family. Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat said: Making a stage work about the people's police is very difficult, difficult for both the producer and the performer. In today's life, the tricks of crime are increasingly sophisticated, especially in the era of modern technology, requiring police officers to constantly study and be good at their jobs. Besides, we must find a way to show the image of a police officer who is very real, very human, also has emotions, concerns, and suffering; sometimes has to face many decisive choices about his life, so as not to fall, not to make mistakes.

Before participating in the festival, the play Another War served the audience in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of June 14 (the next performance was on the evening of June 22). After the first performance, many audiences expressed their delight at enjoying a political play about the police force with an emotional, gentle but profound way of expression, helping viewers understand more about the work, life, thoughts and feelings of police officers in peacetime.

This time, the HCMC stage participating in the festival is all socialized art units. Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat shared: We participate with the spirit of wanting to experiment with a difficult topic like the people's police soldier. This is also an opportunity to practice our profession, unleash our creativity, and join the flow of the national stage to learn and improve. However, for socialized units, the economic factor is also a big obstacle, especially when this is not a type of play that is entertaining and easy to sell tickets.
