Lao Cai attends the online conference to review the first 6 months of the year of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector

On the morning of July 17, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2025. Attending the conference at Lao Cai were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, heads of specialized departments and heads of units under the Department.

At the conference, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism comprehensively assessed the results achieved in the first 6 months of the year in areas such as: preserving cultural heritage, developing high-performance sports, promoting tourism, digital transformation of the cultural sector, implementing Project 06, activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, etc.

The conference recorded many enthusiastic comments and contributions from localities such as: proposing solutions to remove difficulties in state management at the grassroots level after the merger; work to reorganize the culture, sports and tourism sector in the city after decentralization, emphasizing the need to perfect job positions and the sector's organizational structure towards streamlining and efficiency; focusing on building creative spaces, promoting socialized resources for cultural development; building typical tourism products and promoting international tourism promotion; work to develop physical education and sports, especially in building mass sports movements, socializing sports activities, and investing in young athletes.

Speaking at the Lao Cai bridge, Mr. Nong Viet Yen, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province, shared the difficulties and obstacles in the locality in the process of implementing the two-level local government model after merging administrative units.

In his speech, he pointed out a number of shortcomings such as: lack of consensus on the names of commune-level cultural centers among merged regions; difficulties in recognizing provincial-level tourist areas and establishing records of relics distributed across many communes; overlapping authority in recognizing intangible cultural heritage and titles of cultural families and villages between commune and district levels; shortcomings in collecting fees for appraisal of cultural and entertainment services; difficulties in applying old regulations in naming streets and roads in new administrative units.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province also proposed that the Ministry soon issue unified guidelines on the organizational model, naming system and management hierarchy in the fields of culture, sports and tourism in accordance with the two-level local government model.

At the same time, the Department also requested the Ministry to pay attention to supporting the development of job position projects and supplementing the system of specialized job titles for public service units in the fields of culture, information and tourism.

Concluding the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung acknowledged the opinions from the grassroots, affirming that the Ministry will absorb and study to adjust policies and institutions to better suit the post-merger reality, aiming at the goal of synchronous and effective cultural development, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's political, economic and social tasks.

At the conference, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the 2024 Emulation Flag to 11 collectives with outstanding achievements, leading the emulation movement in the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector.
