At 5am, the mist was still hovering over the durian trees, and groups of people were entering the durian gardens to view and price their purchases. Over a cup of coffee at May and Gio point in Da Tro village, a group of durian buyers for export from Hanoi and the durian cutting team were chatting animatedly. From the story of durian and mangosteen in La Day, Da Tro, Da Kim villages ripening 10-15 days later than other villages in La Da commune and Bao Loc region, to the quality of durian and mangosteen rice being deliciously different, Mr. Khuong Cao Phung - Head of La Day village confided: "Most of the people in La Day came here to follow the hydroelectric project to work for a living, then gradually stayed to live and make a living. In the early days of clearing, people planted all kinds of trees, then tried planting a few durian trees and felt that the climate and soil were suitable for this type of crop, so they expanded the area. Currently, La Day village has about 230 hectares of durian land that has been and is being harvested. For the past 3 years, durian has been priced well, many households growing 7-8 hectares of specialized durian have had a "huge" income, so they bought cars and built beautiful houses worth billions of dong...".

Mr. Tran Trung Hai - Chairman of La Da Commune People's Committee said: La Da currently has more than 1,500 hectares of durian, about 60 hectares of mangosteen mainly specialized in Da Tro, La Day, Da Kim, DaGuRi villages. Durian is considered a crop that brings in income many times higher than other traditional crops. Many households have switched from coffee and cashew trees to durian and achieved revenue of hundreds of millions of VND, even billions of VND each year.

Many households in La Da have begun to apply advanced organic farming methods, using automatic drip irrigation systems... Some new models have appeared in La Da, combining durian production with eco-tourism . Durian gardens are open to visitors to visit, experience and enjoy the fruit in the garden, not only providing an additional source of income but also contributing to promoting the local durian brand...

Mr. Mai Van Minh - Director of Da Mi Tourism Company, one of the pioneers in La Da doing agricultural tourism, said: For the past 3 years, the company has brought tourists to experience visiting fruit gardens on Hoa Qua Son peninsula. For the past 10 days, Da Tro, La Day, Da Kim have entered the durian harvest season, so the company has opened an additional service for tourists to visit the gardens and pick up ripe fallen durians to eat comfortably on the spot for 150,000 VND/person...

The durian-mangosteen season in La Da is in the harvest season, so this place is bustling. As the Chairman of the People's Committee of La Da commune said: Durian has affirmed its role as a key crop, bringing outstanding economic efficiency and contributing to improving the lives of local people. Continuing to invest in product quality, applying safety standards and developing innovative economic models such as eco-tourism will be a sustainable direction for durian in the future. Durian not only brings stable income to local people but also opens up a direction for agricultural tourism in the locality...
