The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is having a very useful practice session, aiming to participate in the World Championship (August) as well as the 33rd SEA Games (December), both taking place in Thailand.
As expected, against opponents who were not highly rated like the Australian team or did not send their strongest team to participate like the Philippine national team and the Sichuan provincial team (China), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team easily topped a group of the VTV Cup 2025. Even when only fielding a second team consisting of reserve players and young players, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team still won all 9 matches with a relatively large difference in scores in each match.

Fans eagerly await Thanh Thuy and her teammates to reach the finals and keep the championship trophy in their home country, but experts think differently. Throughout the AVC Nations Cup and the past matches in the VTV Cup group stage, it is not difficult to see that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet has been persistently experimenting and looking for a main striker position "partner" for captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
The return of veteran Nguyen Thi Uyen and her regular appearance in the starting lineup with a strong personal mark is a positive sign in determining who can replace Tran Tu Linh, who is currently recovering from an injury. Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Nguyen Thi Phuong have shown their qualities every time they are given the opportunity to play, but clearly, these two young faces will find it difficult to compete with Nguyen Thi Uyen in terms of attacking ability as well as when participating in defensive support.
If calculated more carefully, Nhu Quynh and Nguyen Phuong are effective replacement options, somewhat reducing the coaching staff's worries when having to strengthen the Vietnamese team's attack.
In the opposite position, if Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen has affirmed her role as the main scorer, Tran Thi Bich Thuy is an effective replacement whenever Bich Tuyen is not on the field. Bich Thuy's quick jumps and smashes in the second position always surprise the opponent, not to mention her effective blocking ability, bringing many points to the team.
Fans are expecting the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to improve their defense to perfect their strength and playing style, through training tournaments such as VTV Cup to create momentum towards the goal of making a miracle at the World Championship and SEA Games 33.
Except for Ninh Anh who has not proven much when playing as a reserve for Libero Khanh Dang, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet is gradually forming ideal pairs of positions, not too different in terms of class and expertise. This is a very positive signal in forming the main frame of the Vietnamese women's team before the important campaigns ahead.
