Under the plan, recycled materials will be converted into plastic pellets to produce new products such as adhesive tape and packaging.

A total of 173 tonnes of promotional items used during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar are being recycled by a Saudi Arabian company, the Gulf Times reported, citing sources from Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC). These are polyester fabrics previously used for upholstery, banners and fencing in stadiums and other locations.

According to SC, large event organizers often have difficulty processing polyester fabrics in an environmentally friendly way. However, with the priority of finding a sustainable solution, SC has partnered with Saudi Top Plastics, one of the largest plastic recycling companies in Saudi Arabia. The plan is to convert the recycled materials into plastic pellets to produce new products such as tape and packaging. SC added that nearly 80% of the waste from the 2022 World Cup has been recycled, while the rest is sent to a recycling-to-energy plant.
