In the third quarter of 2024, the investment project connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway, invested by the Department of Transport of Phu Tho province, began to publicly announce the contractor selection plan.

Approved by the Ministry of Transport in early June 2024 with Decision No. 699/QD-BGTVT, the investment project connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway has a total investment of more than 692 billion VND, the Department of Transport of Phu Tho province was assigned as the investor.
According to the contractor selection plan just publicly posted by the investor, in the third quarter of 2024, there will be 16 bid packages selected for contractors. However, bid package No. 16 will be widely bid and contractor selection will be conducted in the fourth quarter of 2024.
This is a project with a total length of more than 2.7km with 2 items, including: Main highway and service road, the starting point connects to Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho highway, the end point connects to the existing Ho Chi Minh road; with a value of more than 509 billion VND, implementation time in 420 days.

The completion of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway connecting project with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway will improve the exploitation capacity, reduce traffic accidents, improve investment efficiency of Noi Bai - Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressways, and gradually complete the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
At the same time, support the socio-economic development of Phu Tho province, contributing to the implementation of the goals of Resolution 11-NQ/TW of the Politburo on socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the midland and mountainous regions of the North.
The project is expected to be basically completed by 2025.
