Brazilian winger Antony is one of five Manchester United players to have expressed a desire to leave the club permanently this summer. After spending half a season on loan at Real Betis, Antony has been in impressive form, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 26 games, prompting the Spanish club to want to keep him long-term.
According to SPORT , although Antony is "very eager" to return to Betis, there is still no official agreement between the two clubs on a permanent transfer. Betis are said to want to extend the deal until the end of the summer transfer window and plan to buy out Antony's part ownership before completing the full deal next year.
Antony cost Manchester United £85 million (€98.6 million) when he moved from Ajax in 2022. The Red Devils are keen to recoup some of that investment, but whether Betis can afford the asking price remains a big question. The 25-year-old may also have to accept a significant reduction in his current salary for the deal to materialise.
Meanwhile, Betis's reluctance could open the door for other clubs. One potential suitor is Como, who have just been promoted to Serie A and are now coached by former midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The Italian side are said to have expressed an interest in Antony and could step in if Betis fail to reach an agreement as expected.
With the summer transfer window still long, Antony's future remains a big question mark. However, one thing is clear, the Brazilian star is ready to leave Old Trafford in search of a new journey after a turbulent time in the Premier League.
