At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Cuba, Chair of the G77 and China in 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha will lead the Vietnamese delegation to attend the G77 and China Summit with the theme "Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science , Technology and Innovation" and pay a working visit to the Republic of Cuba from September 15-18.

The G77 was established on June 15, 1964, when 77 developing countries signed the “Joint Declaration of 77 Countries” at the end of the first session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNTAD) in Geneva. To date, the G77 has 134 members.

The G77 is an important gathering of developing countries within the UN framework to protect and promote the interests of Southern countries, enhance the position and voice of developing countries in negotiating international economic issues within the UN and enhance South-South cooperation.

In 1994, China joined the G77 Group. Since then, the Group's name in official documents and statements has become the G77 Group and China.

Vietnam is one of the founding members of the G77 Group, a responsible member, actively contributing and participating in solving regional and international issues in the G77 Group. Vietnam's participation in the G77 has demonstrated its role in fulfilling international obligations, participating in multilateral forums, contributing to promoting the voices and interests of developing countries, including promoting the priorities and interests of Vietnam.

Vietnam and Cuba officially established diplomatic relations on December 2, 1960, opening a new page in the history of friendship between the two peoples located on the Eastern and Western halves of the globe.

Over the past half century, since the two countries established diplomatic relations, the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples have always stood side by side in the struggle for independence and freedom as well as in the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland in each country.

It can be said that in contemporary world history, there are few relationships as special as the relationship between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and Cuba.
